CAA Announces Rookie Swimmers And Divers Of The Month For November/December

RICHMOND, Va. (December 10, 2024) – The CAA has announced its CAA Men’s and Women’s Rookie Swimmers and Divers of the Month, honoring top performances from freshmen during competition in November and December.

CAA MEN’S ROOKIE SWIMMER OF THE MONTH
Reds Rullis, Drexel (Latvia)
 
Rullis excelled the Bruno Invitational, winning gold in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:37.27 that is the best in the CAA this season. He placed third in the 500 free with a time of 4:26.67 that ranks third in the conference and added a B-final win in the 100 free (44.83). At Seton Hall, he contributed third-place finishes in the 50 free (21.21) and 1000 free (9:52.13).
 
CAA WOMEN’S ROOKIE SWIMMER OF THE MONTH
Brittany Corbett, Drexel (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.)
 
Corbett had a sensational month in two competitions for Drexel. At the Bruno Invitational, she set a program record in winning the 1650 free with a time of 16:36.67 and broke the school record in the 500 free with a time of 4:48.98, which placed second. At the same meet, the freshman posted a time of 1:49.72 in the 200 free. All three of those marks are the best in the CAA this season. At Seton Hall, Corbett took second place in the 1000 free with a time of 10:26.19 and 200 free (1:56.91).
 
CAA WOMEN’S ROOKIE DIVER OF THE MONTH
Natalia Chornomidza, Stony Brook (Lindenhurst, N.Y.)
 
Chornomidza contributed one first-place finish, a pair of second-place efforts and three third-place scores in Stony Brook’s three competitions over the past month. She had a winning score of 247.88 on the 1-meter board at Siena. Her top score on the 3-meter board came at Central Connecticut State with a score of 235.70.
