RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 13, 2024) – The CAA has announced its eighth indoor track and field weekly awards for the 2023-24 season. Campbell swept the women’s awards, with redshirt senior Chastity Pickett earning CAA Track Athlete of the Week accolades, and senior Lakelyn Bass collecting CAA Field Athlete of the Week recognition. On the men’s side, Northeastern junior Benjamin Godish was named CAA Track Athlete of the Week, and North Carolina A&T junior Brayden Hodgest received CAA Field Athlete of the Week honors.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Chastity Pickett, Campbell
R-Senior | Sprints / Hurdles | Albany, Ga. / Westover Comprehensive HS
Pickett set season-best marks in three events at the Tyson Invitational, including a school and CAA record in the 200m. The redshirt senior ran 23.69 in the 200m to set a new PR and the top time in the conference this season. Additionally, Pickett posted a time of 8.23 in the 60m hurdles - the mark ranks second in the CAA and 35th nationally this winter. Finally, the sprinter ran a season-best time of 7.54 in the 60m dash, the fourth-best time in the league.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lakelyn Bass, Campbell
Senior | Pole Vault | Clinton, N.C. / Hobbton HS
Bass broke the Campbell program and indoor conference record in the pole vault at the Tyson Invitational. The senior won the event with a person-best clearance of 4.00m (13-01.50). The mark leads the conference, and Bass becomes the first-ever CAA student-athlete to clear 4.00m in the pole vault indoors. 
 
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Benjamin Godish, Northeastern
Junior | Distance | Highland Park, N.J. / Highland Park HS
Godish ran a sub-four-minute mile for the second straight week, with his most recent time at the Valentine Invitational broke the Northeastern program and CAA indoor records. The junior ran a personal-best 3:57.43, finishing 11th among collegiate competitors. The time leads the conference and ranks 41st in the NCAA this season.    
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brayden Hodgest, North Carolina A&T
Junior | Throws | Fort Worth, Texas / Brewer HS
Hodgest won the shot put at the VMI Winter Classic this weekend. The junior recorded a mark of 16.26m (53-04.25) to take first place in the event. Hodgest remains second in the CAA in the shot put this season with his season-best mark of 16.58m (54-04.75).
