Nick Dorn are the are the winners of the CAA Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards presented by Primis for the week ending March 3.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Reyne Smith, Charleston
Junior | Guard | Ulverstone, Australia / Australian Institute of Sport
Smith went 16-for-26 in a record-breaking weekend from distance as Charleston clinched out the outright CAA regular season title. The Australian guard hit 10 three-pointers in a 32-point night to beat Campbell on Thursday and added six threes in a 21-point showing to beat Hofstra on Saturday. Smith’s 10 three-pointers against the Camels were a Charleston record, one shy of the CAA record, and made Smith the first player in CAA history with multiple career games of 9+ three-pointers.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nick Dorn, Elon
Freshman | Guard | Charlotte, N.C. / Julius L. Chambers
Dorn was in double figures in both games of a 1-1 week for Elon heading into the CAA Championship. The guard from Charlotte averaged 12.5 points and 3.0 rebounds as the Phoenix defeated William & Mary on CBS Sports Network before a setback against Monmouth. Dorn scored 14 points in the win over the Tribe and 11 against the Hawks. He is Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season and first since going back-to-back on January 1 and 8.
