WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 8, 2024)
– Sophomore guard Chase Lowe stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, 16 rebounds and six assists as 13th-seeded William & Mary pulled away for a 79-62 victory over #12 North Carolina A&T in the opening game of the Jersey Mike’s CAA Men’s Basketball Championship on Friday afternoon at the Entertainment & Sports Arena.

The Tribe (10-22) advances to play #5 Towson in Saturday’s second round at 2:30 p.m. North Carolina A&T (7-25) ended its season with a 7-25 mark.

Lowe was one of four players in double figures for W&M, which also got 18 points apiece from guards Gabe Dorsey and Trey Moss. The Aggies also had four players score in double digits, led by guard Landon Glasper with 21 points and forward Nikolaos Chitikoudis with 16 points and a team-best 10 rebounds.

Neither team led by more than seven points through the first 30 minutes of the game and A&T trailed just 53-50 with 9:57 to go following a pair of Glasper free throws. W&M took over from there behind Lowe, who hit a layup and converted a three-point play on a stickback to push the Tribe lead to 61-50. Back-to-back treys from Dorsey and Sean Houpt followed by a Moss three-point play capped a 19-5 run and put the Tribe in command, 72-55, with 3:19 remaining.

There were nine lead changes and nine ties in a tightly contested opening half. A Moss three-pointer with 35 seconds left capped a 7-0 run by the Tribe and gave them their largest lead of the game, 35-30, going into the break. Dorsey hit three of his five treys and scored 11 in the first half, while Glasper tallied 14 of the Aggies’ 30 points.

W&M shot 40.9% from the floor and knocked down 11-of-33 three-point attempts, while A&T hit 39.4% from the floor, but was only 3-of-19 from beyond the arc.
