Stony Brook's Paulsen Chosen To NCBWA Freshman All-America Second Team

RICHMOND, Va. (June 10, 2024) – Stony Brook designated hitter/pitcher Erik Paulsen has been selected to the Freshman All-America second team by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Paulsen was chosen as the 2024 CAA Rookie of the Year after excelling for the Seawolves at the plate and on the mound. He was second on the team with a .299 batting average and contributed 16 doubles, four homers and 24 RBI’s. The left-hander also served as Stony Brook’s closer, posting a 2-1 record with a team-high six saves and a 3.21 ERA in 15 appearances. The six saves were tied for fifth in the CAA.

Paulsen was one of 10 semifinalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award by the College Baseball Foundation. He was named to the CAA All-Rookie team and received honorable mention on the All-CAA squad.
