Jasen Bottini are the CAA men’s soccer weekly award winners for the week ending August 25.
CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Filipe Matos, Campbell
Sophomore | Midfield | Riachos, Portugal / Escola Secundária Artur Gonçalves
Matos scored both Campbell goals in the Camels’ 2-1 season-opening victory over Radford on Friday night. The Portuguese sophomore scored in the 11
th minute and found the game-winning goal in the 87
th minute for the brace in the first game of the year. Matos added an assist in Sunday’s game against Division III North Carolina Wesleyan.
CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marius Stenner, Delaware
Freshman | Forward | Svendborg, Denmark / Svendborg Handelsgymnasium
Stenner factored into all three goals in Delaware’s win over Howard to open the 2024 season. The Danish freshman scored in the 20
th and 28
th minute before adding an assist in the 78
th to complete a 3-0 Blue Hens victory.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Filippo Dadone, Hofstra
Senior | Goalkeeper | Cuneo, Italy / Juventus College
Dadone recorded a five-save shutout in his first start for No. 17 Hofstra, helping the Pride to a scoreless draw in the opener against Fordham. Dadone would pick up the win on Sunday night against American, stopping the only shot he faced while surrendering an own goal.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jasen Bottini, Monmouth
Freshman | Midfield | Upper Saddle River, N.J. / Northern Highlands Regional
Bottini’s brace led the way for Monmouth in his collegiate debut. The freshman from New Jersey scored his first career goal just over a minute after entering his first college game and struck again two minutes later. The two goals on two shots came in 33 minutes of work in the Hawks’ 4-0 victory over Fairfield.
