Ryan Eapen are the CAA men’s soccer weekly award winners for the week ending September 22.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Scott Vatne, Elon
Senior| Midfielder | Klepp, Norway / Bryne Videregaende Skole
Elon extended their win streak to three CAA victories, and Vatne played a pivotal role in the Phoenix’s success. Seven minutes into the matchup against Stony Brook, Vatne dispatched a penalty to give Elon a 1-0 lead early. Just 11 minutes later, the senior midfielder turned from provider to helper, tallying an assist on the game-winning goal.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bastian Hatcher, Monmouth
Graduate Student | Defender | Oslo, Norway / The Norwegian College of Top Sports
Hatcher played a key role in a Monmouth defense that allowed two goals all week, recording a 1-0-1 record. The graduate student defender was part of a defense that allowed LIU to register just three shots on target in a 1-1 draw. On Saturday, Hatcher put in a strong performance, helping the Hawks shut down No. 12 Hofstra to earn a 2-1 victory. The Norwegian native helped limit the Pride to four shots on target, tacking on a goal as well.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ryan Eapen, William & Mary
Redshirt Freshman / Sophomore| Goalkeeper| Morris Plains N.J. / Morristown
With William & Mary having one game scheduled this past week, Eapen made the most of his opportunities. The redshirt freshman earned his first clean sheet in 90 minutes of action against Northeastern. Eapen made five saves en route to the first shutout of his career playing a full match between the posts.
