CAA Football Weekly Awards - Sept. 30

RICHMOND, Va. (September 30, 2024) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 5 of the 2024 season. Monmouth graduate running back Sone Ntoh and William & Mary senior quarterback Darius Wilson shared Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Richmond redshirt freshman cornerback CJ Fraser received Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Monmouth junior kick/punt returner Makhi Green was named the Special Teams Player of the Week and Villanova freshman running back David Avit was selected as the Rookie of the Week.
CAA Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Sone Ntoh, Gr., RB, Monmouth (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus)
Ntoh ran for a career-high 136 yards on 15 carries (9.1 ypc) and tied a program record with five TD’s as Monmouth rolled past Fordham, 63-21. The grad found the end zone on runs of 1, 3, 64 and 7 yards in the first half and added a 2-yarder in the 3
rd quarter. The five TD’s are the most by an FCS player in 2024 and he leads the nation with 12 rushing TD’s.
CAA Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Darius Wilson, Sr., QB, William & Mary (Bronx, N.Y./Iona Prep)
Wilson completed 16-of-19 passes for 198 yards and a TD and ran for 82 yards and a TD on 11 carries (7.5 ypc) in William & Mary’s 49-7 win over Hampton. The senior’s 84.2% completion percentage was a career-best and 7
th-best in FCS this season. He guided a W&M attack that piled up 632 total yards, which was its most since 2005.
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
CJ Fraser, R-Fr., CB, Richmond (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch)
Fraser recorded a career-high nine tackles, 0.5 TFL’s, a forced fumble and an interception in Richmond’s 27-17 victory at Elon. Making his fourth start, the freshman more than doubled his tackles total from the season. The interception was the first of his career and one of three turnovers forced by the Spiders in the game.
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Makhi Green, Jr., KR/PR, Monmouth (West Orange, N.J./West Orange)
Green returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, setting the tone in Monmouth’s 63-21 win over Fordham. The junior also returned four punts for 31 yards (7.8 avg.) and caught two passes for 12 yards. The KOR was the longest in school history and was one of two returns for a TD by the Hawks in the game.
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
David Avit, Fr., RB, Villanova (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill)
Avit rushed for a career-high 160 yards and a TD on 24 carries (6.7 ypc) in Villanova’s 24-10 victory over LIU. The freshman sealed the win with a 5-yard scoring run on the first play of the fourth quarter, which was his first collegiate TD. The 160 yards were the most by a Villanova true freshman since 1977.
