William & Mary 81, North Carolina A&T 78
Box Score

Keller Boothby kept William & Mary undefeated in conference play with a 3-pointer as time expired to secure an 81-78 victory over North Carolina A&T. After the Aggies’ Jahnathan Lamothe utilized a screen on the wing to sink a game-tying 3-pointer with three seconds to go in regulation, Boothby reeled in a pass at the center-court logo and drained his fourth triple of the contest to secure the victory at the buzzer. The 4-0 mark by William & Mary to open conference play is the team’s best start since winning six straight league games to start the 2019-20 season.

N.C. A&T took an early 7-2 lead as Ryan Forrest (27 pts.) sank three of his first four shots from the floor. It would be the largest lead from either team for the remainder of the opening stanza as William & Mary took a 42-38 lead into the break. The Aggies opened the second half on a 15-3 run led by Forrest, who scored eight points on the stretch, to give the visitors a 53-45 edge. The Tribe flipped the script with Caleb Dorsey (18 pts.) knocking down a pair of threes, part of a 16-7 stretch to give  a 61-60 lead. Following four lead changes, the Tribe’s Isaiah Mbeng scored five straight points to take a four-point advantage, 73-69, at 5:40 to go. North Carolina A&T hit six free throws over the final 5:25 while holding William & Mary to just two made field goals until the final 10 seconds. The Tribe’s Noah Collier (22 pts., 9-11 FG) and the Aggies’ Landon Glasper (24 pts.) also produced 20-point efforts on Saturday.

Box Score

Sophomore guard Jean Aranguren registered 17 of his team-high 20 points in the second half to propel Hofstra past UNCW, 66-63, at home.

A showdown from behind the arc ensued immediately as the two teams knocked down nine combined triples through the opening 10:13 of the contest for a 17-17 deadlock. UNCW’s Donovan Newby, who finished with a game-best 30 points, drained a trio of his eight 3-pointers while Hofstra’s Cruz Davis knocked down two of the team’s five early makes from deep to start the game. The Pride and the Seahawks battled to halftime as neither team led by more than one possession until a pair of made free throws from KiJan Robinson gave Hofstra a 29-24 lead at the break.

Hofstra grew its lead to as many as 11 before a 15-3 run by UNCW gave them a two-point edge, 63-61 with 55 seconds remaining. Hofstra’s Aranguren negated the stretch after drawing contact in the post and finishing in the paint with an and-one at the rim. After the made free throw by Aranguren, UNCW had four chances stopped and saw Hofstra’s Khahil Farmer nail his two shots from the charity stripe before the final horn to secure the three-point victory.
