Sam Sherry (23 pts., 8-9 FG) and Nick Dorn (22 pts., 5 3FGM) led Elon to its first 7-0 start at home since joining the conference in 1999 with an 81-68 wire-to-wire victory over Campbell on CBS Sports Network on Monday evening. Sherry earned his sixth double-double of the season with 10 boards.

Dorn scored the first nine Phoenix points with a trio of free throws and two 3-pointers, part of five straight makes from the floor to open the game for a 16-7 lead. After Campbell chipped its deficit down to as few as two just past the midway point, Elon rattled off 11 unanswered points, seeing Sherry cap off the run with a triple to take a 34-21 advantage with 6:02 remaining. Colby Duggan slashed Campbell’s deficit back to single digits, 42-34, at the intermission with nine of the team’s final 13 points.

Dorn and Sherry continued their hot hands in the second half, evenly splitting the first 10 points of the stanza for a 52-37 Elon lead. The Camels’ Duggan responded with the squad’s first 14 points before Bragi Gudmundsson hit a pair of free throws to bring Campbell within six, 56-50, with 12:19 remaining in regulation. Duggan finished with 29 points, five boards and a pair of assists. It was as close as Campbell would get down the stretch as Elon reclaimed a double-digit lead and secured a 13-point victory.
