CAA Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards - Jan. 21

RICHMOND, Va. (January 21, 2025) - William & Mary sophomore Aiden Bond and UNCW junior Gil Shaw earned CAA swimming weekly awards, while UNCW sophomore Etan Ferguson and Towson junior Shannon Parrau received CAA diving weekly honors.
CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Aiden Bond, So., William & Mary (McLean, Va.)
Bond registered two first-place individual finishes and placed first in two relays to help William & Mary pick up a 147-115 victory over Davidson. The sophomore set a pool record with a winning time of 43.94 in the 100 free, which is 4
th-fastest in the CAA this season. He also claimed the 50 free with a time of 19.93, which is tied for 4
th-fastest in the conference. Bond was also part of the Tribe’s first-place 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams.
CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Gil Shaw, Jr., UNCW (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.)
Shaw recorded a pair of first-place finishes in UNCW’s meet at nationally ranked Georgia last weekend. The junior posted a winning time of 1:02.09 in the 100 breast, which is 5
th-fastest in the CAA this season, and captured the 200 breast with a time of 2:14.47, which is 4
th-fastest in the conference. She also placed third in the 200 IM (2:07.11) and was part of a second-place team in the 200 medley relay.
CAA Men’s Diver of the Week
Etan Ferguson, So., UNCW (Greensboro, N.C.)
Ferguson turned in strong performances on both boards in UNCW’s meet at SEC foe Georgia. The sophomore finished fifth on the 1-meter board with a score of 285.90 and took third place in the 3-meter competition with a score of 285.0.
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Shannon Parrau, Jr., Towson (Germantown, Md.)
Parrau swept both boards in Towson’s team victory over Drexel last Saturday. The junior posted a winning score of 306.75 in the 3-meter competition and took the top spot on the 1-meter board with a score of 288.90. Parrau also won both diving events in Towson’s meet with Howard.
