LaNae’ Corbett are the CAA women’s basketball weekly award winners for the week ending January 5.

McKinley Brooks-Sumpter, Charleston

Brooks-Sumpter set career highs in a week that saw her average 16.0 points and 5.5 rebounds on 68 percent shooting from the field. Averaging 6.3 points heading into conference play, the graduate student guard nearly tripled her average tallying a season-high 16 points on 7-9 shooting in the Cougars 67-50 win over Towson. Brooks-Sumpter took the court two days later and matched her season best with another 16-point performance alongside six rebounds and two assists in a 78-63 win against Campbell.

Corbett collects her second consecutive CAA weekly award after helping Hofstra go 2-0 in conference play by averaging 18 points and 7.5 rebounds across 40 minutes of action. The freshman forward had an incredible CAA debut in the Pride’s 75-67 victory against Monmouth, dropping a career-high 26 points on 67% shooting from the field. In a 63-57 win over Delaware, Corbett posted her seventh double-digit point performance of the season with 10 points alongside eight rebounds and two steals.
