Leonor Polezzi split Defensive Player of the Week recognition on Monday.
The Cougars’ Noonan became the first player since at least 2013 to secure Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week honors in the same season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gwen Wolkow, Campbell
Senior | Outside Hitter | Downers Grove, Ill.
Wolkow continued her hot streak with 5.00 kills per set on .531 hitting in a pair of wins over Hampton to secure her second consecutive Offensive Player of the Week honor. The senior outside hitter was dominant on Friday with 17 kills on .696 hitting on the night. Her efforts helped Campbell to its best hitting percentage since 1989, the program’s benchmark under current NCAA scoring rules, and the highest by any team in the CAA this season at .534. The Downers Grove, Ill., native came out swinging a hot hand again with seven kills in the first set of Saturday’s match en route to a match-high 13 kills on .385 hitting. Wolkow now has double-digit kills in each of her last six matches.
CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caroline Noonan, Charleston
Freshman | Middle Blocker | Charlotte, N.C.
Noonan made a defensive impact in the Cougars’ road sweep of Northeastern, totaling 14 blocks and averaging 1.00 digs per set. Noonan also tacked on 20 kills and a .405 attacking percentage. In Saturday's victory, Noonan tallied four digs and six blocks, helping hold the Huskies to a .150 hitting percentage. On Sunday, the freshman collected eight blocks and four digs to go along with 14 kills and a .462 attacking percentage, holding Northeastern to a .160 mark.
CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Leonor Polezzi, North Carolina A&T
Junior | Setter | Cortona, Italy
Polezzi helped the Aggies go 2-0 over the weekend with a strong defensive performance. The junior setter averaged 3.50 digs and 0.75 blocks per set, while adding 11.13 assists per set. In A&T's win over William & Mary on Saturday, she had 48 assists, 19 digs, three service aces, and two total blocks. Polezzi also chipped in four total stuffs in A&T's win on Friday as well.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nina Jioshvili-Ravva, Hofstra
Freshman | Setter | La Roquette-sur-Siagne, France
Jioshvili-Ravva guided Hofstra to a pair of conference wins over Stony Brook to extend the current win streak to six consecutive matches and pick up her third straight Rookie of the Week honor. The freshman setter averaged 12.67 assists, 2.33 digs, 1.50 kills, and 1.00 blocks per set. Totaling 76 assists on the weekend, 35 helpers came in Friday’s match to go with a season-high six kills without committing an attacking error. She followed up with 41 assists, five digs and tied a season-best with four blocks to complete the sweep.
