DURHAM, N.C. – The 2025 CAA champion Elon (11-2-7) will open the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship on Friday when it faces the quadrant’s No. 2 seed Duke (13-4-1) for its opening-round matchup.

The Phoenix and the Blue Devils will battle in a 6 p.m. tilt on ESPN+.

Elon will make its first appearance in the national postseason slate since the 2021 Spring season. The Phoenix enters the national tournament on an eight-game unbeaten streak, going 5-0-3 over that span. Goalkeeper and CAA Women’s Soccer Championship Most Outstanding Player Katie Bisgrove has been vital to that success, allowing just six goals for a 0.71 GAA. The sophomore keeper has also made 52 saves in the last 760 minutes of action.

The Phoenix have faced the Blue Devils six previous times, including one showdown in the NCAA Tournament (Nov. 10, 1999). Elon will look to secure its first win in the series. The Phoenix will look to become the first CAA team to win an NCAA Tournament game since Hofstra knocked off Providence, 3-0, in 2021.

Elon has the CAA’s largest goal differential at +23 to rank 31st in NCAA Division I, largely due to the team’s defensive play with Bisgrove in net. The sophomore keeper has logged an .885 save percentage (7th in NCAA) and a .669 GAA (25th) to go with nine shutouts (19th). With another clean sheet by Bisgrove, the Ridgewood, N.J., native can become just the 16th player in league history to secure double-digit shutouts in a single season. Towson’s Riley Melendez last did so with 11 shutouts in both 2022 and 2023.

The winner of the opening round matchup will face the winner between Maine (6-7-4) and No. 7 seed UCF (11-3-5).
