Jasmine Nivar are the CAA women’s basketball weekly award winners for the week ending November 23.
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kayla Lezama, Hampton
Junior | Guard | Boston, Mass. / Noble & Greenough School
Lezama scored a career-high in Hampton’s 57-55 win over Norfolk State to snap the longest active home-court winning streak in Division I. The junior guard posted a personal-best 19 points on a 75.0% scoring clip from deep and chipped in with a team-high three steals. Lezama’s steal and layup with 6:34 on the clock gave the Pirates a 46-45 lead, which they never relinquished.

Redshirt Sophomore | Guard | Greenville, N.C. / D.H. Conley
Silver averaged 16.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in UNCW’s 1-1 week. The redshirt sophomore dropped a career high in points (22) and rebounds (13), while shooting 8-for-13 from the field in a 75-55 win over Presbyterian. Silver’s double-double was her second of the season, having also accomplished the feat in the first game of the campaign. The Greenville, N.C. resident also notched 11 points and eight rebounds against Gardner-Webb.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jasmine Nivar, Campbell
Freshman | Guard | Apex, N.C. / Apex Friendship HS
Nivar became the first player in the conference this year to win two weekly awards after recording her first career double-double. The Apex Friendship alumna scored 13 points and added 10 rebounds in a 67-51 win over Grambling State. Against Northern Colorado on Friday, the freshman guard recorded 10 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Nivar was selected to the WellNow Blue Demon Classic All-Tournament Team for her performance over the weekend.
