HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (November 9, 2025) – Second-seeded Stony Brook took advantage of a man-up situation, scoring twice in a 42-second span late in the match, to stun No. 1 Hofstra, 2-1, in the semifinals of the CAA Men’s Soccer Championship on a rainy afternoon at Hofstra’s Captains Field.

With the victory, the Seawolves (9-4-5) advance to the CAA men’s soccer championship game for the first time and to the finals of a conference tournament for the first time since 2011. Hofstra, which had won the past four CAA men’s soccer titles and was riding a nation’s-best eight-match winning streak, dropped to 12-5 with the loss.

Leading 1-0, Hofstra went a man down after a red card was issued to Thengill Orrason in the 77th minute. Stony Brook cashed in on the opportunity as Nelson Reynoso sent a cross into the box that was headed into the goal by Scemar Webb for the equalizer with 11:13 remaining.

Just 42 seconds later, Reynoso delivered the key assist once again, firing a crossing pass to a charging Ryan Farr in the box where he redirected the ball inside the near post for the game-winner in the 80th minute.

Hofstra controlled play throughout the first half, outshooting Stony Brook, 7-0, and putting three shots on goal.

CAA Player of the Year Laurie Goddard got the Pride on the board in the 10th minute, receiving the ball at the top of the box and firing a low shot that deflected off the foot of a Seawolves’ defender and bounded into the top right corner of the net. It was his 11th goal of the season, which is tied for the league lead.

Stony Brook keeper Heidar Hermannsson made three of his four saves in the opening half, including a big stop on a Daniel Burko rebound shot in the 35th minute.

Hofstra had a 15-10 edge in shots for the game and 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.

ELON, N.C. (November 9, 2025) - Top-seeded Elon put together its biggest offensive performance of the season and defeated No. 2 Campbell, 6-4, in the semifinals of the CAA Men’s Soccer Championship on Sunday night at Elon’s Rudd Field.

Elon (8-3-6) advances to the CAA title game for third time in the past five years, where it will face Stony Brook next Sunday. Campbell dropped to 10-6-4 after the setback.

Midfielder Martin Kozak had a goal and four assists for an Elon team that hadn’t scored more than two goals in a match all season before breaking out against Campbell. Dominik Renz added a goal and an assist.

Elon took a 1-0 advantage in the 18th minute. Jordin Wilson outraced a Campbell defender on a pass from Weston Jonke down the right side. From outside the box, he launched a shot on goal from a tough angle that glanced off the outstretched fingers of Camels’ keeper Max Leviton and trickled over the goal line.

The Phoenix pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 39th minute. Kozak sent a long pass up the right side to Einar Ness. He lined a cross into the center of the box to Jahmir Flowers, who finished with his left foot from eight yards out.

Facing an Elon defense that hadn’t allowed a goal at home all season, Campbell battled back within 2-1 at the half. Jake Roberts received a pass at the top of the 18 and fired a shot that deflected off the foot of a Phoenix defender and found its way into the net just 2:39 before the break.

The Camels equalized in the 59th minute. Campbell lofted a ball nearly the length of the field that found Marco Wright on the run. He was able to beat the Elon defender and then used the side of his right foot to score his fifth goal of the year.

The match remained tied at 3-3 after the two teams traded penalty kick goals. Kozak fired into the right side of the net from the spot in the 60th minute for Elon. Campbell answered less than four minutes as Ethan Roberts converted his PK into the center of the goal.

Elon took the lead for good in the 66th minute. A free kick into the box by Kozak was headed towards the goal by Renz and then finished at the right post by Magnus Micha Jacobsen to put the Phoenix up 4-3.

Renz added a goal of his own in the 74th minute. He received a pass from Kozar at the edge of the box and then used his left foot to pop it over a charging Leviton to make it 5-3.

Kozak recorded his fourth assist of the night in the 81st minute when his corner kick found the head of a diving Charlie Kitch to increase the Elon advantage to 6-3.

Campbell capped the scoring with 1:38 remaining when a shot by Wright was blocked by Jackson Leavitt, but the rebound came out to Kairi Saito, who finished from the top of the box.
