Barbot averaged 22.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the Cougars’ 1-1 week at the Big Easy Classic. The CAA Preseason Player of the Year helped Charleston get off to a hot start, pouring in 18 points on 47% shooting from the floor in the 72-42 win over New Mexico State. She also chipped in with four rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Against High Point, Barbot posted her first double-double of the year with 26 points and 11 rebounds. The junior guard has four games with 20 or more points this season, including two 30-point performances.

Cox impressed in the Seahawks’ lone game of the week, nearly recording a triple-double in a 69-59 win over Queens. The graduate guard notched 20 points alongside an impressive nine steals. Shooting 8-of-16 from the floor, the Brooklyn resident tacked on eight rebounds and added five assists. Cox’s nine steals were two tallies shy of the program record.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Tamia Watkins, Elon

Watkins averaged 7.7 points and 4.4 rebounds as the Phoenix went 1-2, including a 1-1 record in the Paradise Jam. Scoring six points in each of her first two games of the week, the Kershaw, S.C., product impressed during her second game of the tournament, nearly reaching a double-double. Her 11 points marked just the second time this season she has eclipsed double-digit points, while her seven rebounds were a team high in the 65-57 win over North Dakota.
