CAA BASEBALL WEEKLY REPORT - FEB. 17

RICHMOND, Va. (February 17, 2025) – Charleston outfielder Avery Neaves was selected as the CAA Baseball Player of the Week after batting .545 with four doubles and nine runs scored in the Cougars’ series win over VCU. UNCW right-hander Connor Marshburn was chosen as the Pitcher of the Week after throwing six no-hit innings and fanning seven in a victory over nationally ranked Georgia. North Carolina A&T infielder JT Taylor was named the Rookie of the Week after batting .571 with four extra-base hits and five RBI’s in a sweep of Delaware State.

CAA Baseball Player of the Week
Avery Neaves, Charleston – Gr., OF – Reston, Va.
Neaves batted .545 (6-11) with four doubles, nine runs scored and three RBI’s from the leadoff spot as Charleston took two-of-three from preseason A-10 favorite VCU. The outfielder also drew four walks and reached base in 10 of his 15 plate appearances. He scored three times and had at least one double in all three contests.

CAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Connor Marshburn, UNCW – So., RHP – Cary, N.C.
Marshburn fired six no-hit innings against 8th-ranked Georgia on Sunday to lead the Seahawks to a 6-2 victory over the Bulldogs. The right-hander, who was making his first career start, tied his career high with seven strikeouts and faced just 22 batters over six scoreless frames to earn the win. He allowed just one runner to reach second base.

CAA Baseball Rookie of the Week as
JT Taylor, North Carolina A&T – R-Fr., IF – Salisbury, N.C.
Taylor batted .571 (4-7) with a double, three triples, four runs scored and five RBI’s in North Carolina A&T’s sweep of Delaware State last Friday. The second baseman was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBI’s as the Aggies won the opener, 12-3, and followed in Game 2 by going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI triples and a sac fly in a 14-4 victory.
