Washington D.C. (Mar. 14, 2025) – Turnovers proved costly as No.2 Charleston defeated No. 7 Delaware 87-49 in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Credit Union 1 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship on Friday night from Care First Arena. 
 
The Cougars, who forced 27 turnovers, advanced to their first conference semifinal since 2022. Charleston will face either Campbell or Towson on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
 

 
Charleston poked the ball away 19 times in the contest, with seven players tallying at least two steals. The Cougars capitalized to score 38 points off turnovers compared to the Blue Hens two.
 
Charleston’s Taryn Barbot set the pace with 24 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while Taylor Barbot (12 points), Lara Rohkohl (16), and Jazmyn Stone (13) all joined her in double digits. Rohkohl was 8-for-9 from the floor and added seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.
 
Tara Cousins led Delaware with 16 points alongside two steals and two assists and Rebecca Demeke added 12 points. As a team, Delaware shot 38.0% from the field and 36.0% (9-25) from behind the arc.
 
Deadlocked at eight through the first media timeout, Charleston found its offense rhythm compiling an 11-0 run to close out the quarter.  Jazmyn Stone’s trey ball kickstarted the stretch, while four other players added points to post an eight-point Cougar advantage heading into the second quarter.
 

 
Taking a 36-24 lead into halftime, Charleston was stellar on the defensive side of the ball, forcing Delaware into 15 first-half turnovers. Of the Cougars’ 36 first-half points, 19 came off errors. Charleston poked the ball loose 11 times in the first with Taylor Barbot (2), McKinley Brooks-Sumpter (2), Lara Rohkohl (3), and Stone (3) having multiple tallies next to their names.
 
Charleston stretched out to its largest lead of the game to begin the third, holding a 17-point advantage. Rohkohl had a hand in four of Charleston’s five baskets during the run, scoring four and assisting two as well. 
 
By the end of the game, the Cougars had built up a 38-point cushion, marking its third 30+ point win in the last five games. Coming into the day, Charleson ranked 14th in the nation in scoring margin, outscoring its opponents by an average of 18.8 points.
