CAA Softball Weekly Awards – March 31, 2025

RICHMOND, Va. (March 31, 2025) – Stony Brook’s
Kyra McFarland and
Nicole Allen captured Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, while
Billie Kerwood of Delaware and
Makayla Huddleston of UNCW split Pitcher of the Week recognition on Monday afternoon.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kyra McFarland, Stony Brook
Graduate Student | Infielder | Greeley, Colo.
McFarland slashed .556/.600/.889 in a 4-1 week for Stony Brook, hitting safely in all five contests and registering three multi-hit performances. The graduate shortstop tallied 10 hits, 10 runs scored, three RBIs and a pair of stolen bases. McFarland registered a double in four straight games to open the week, including a pair against Sacred Heart. After tallying two tallies in game two of its doubleheader with the Pioneers, the Greeley, Colo., native rounded the bases three times to take the series opener against Hampton. McFarland went 4-for-5 at the dish with three runs scored on Saturday, before clearing bases with a three-run triple to go with two tallies to complete the sweep of the Lady Pirates.
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Makayla Huddleston, UNCW
Sophomore | Kent, Ohio
Huddleston tossed the sixth no-hitter in UNCW history in an 8-0 run-rule win over Monmouth on Friday. The Kent, Ohio native allowed just one walk and struck out three in the win. She followed up with another three innings of no-hit ball on Sunday, punching out one batter and extending her hitless streak to eight innings. Huddleston enters the week having allowed just one hit and zero runs scored over her previous three starts.
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Billie Kerwood, Delaware
Senior | Prospect Park, Penn.
Kerwood registered a 0.97 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 21.2 innings last week. She surrendered just 11 hits and three walks, while holding the opposition to a .141 batting average. The Pennsylvania product tossed 2.1 innings of work and did not allow an earned run in the effort. The senior pitcher followed up with a complete-game effort, striking out eight in a shortened 9-1 win in six frames against Elon. Kerwood earned the series win for the Blue Hens with an eight-inning, 11-strikeout performance on Sunday to solidify a 3-2 victory over the Phoenix. She also recorded her 600th career punchout in the victory.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nicole Allen, Stony Brook
Freshman | Outfielder | Penfield, N.Y.
Allen appeared in all five games for Stony Brook, slashing .600/.714/1.200. The Penfield, N.Y., native finished the week with six hits, seven runs scored, five RBIs and four walks drawn. She reached safely in all five games with hits in four of the five contests. After tallying a pair of tallies in a run-ruled win over Sacred Heart, Allen shined in the Seawolves’ weekend series against Hampton. She smacked an RBI double in game one on Friday before unleashing a three-run, four-RBI game on Saturday, smashing a three-shot in the seventh. Allen finished the weekend with a 2-for-3 showing at the dish, scoring twice and smacking her third double of the week.
