RICHMOND, Va. – The quest for 14 teams to be “Crowned in the Capital” starts on Friday as the 2025 Jersey Mike’s CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament opens play with 12th-seeded Delaware (12-19, 5-13) taking on 13th-seeded Stony Brook (8-23, 4-14) at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C. The five-day tournament will run its course from March 7-11.
Following the inaugural CAA Tournament matchup between the Blue Hens and Seawolves at 2 p.m., a season-finale rematch is in store between No. 11 Hofstra (14-17, 6-12) and No. 14 North Carolina A&T (7-24, 3-15) at 4:30 p.m. The Pride earned a 70-49 win over the Aggies to claim its seeding in the postseason slate.
The winners of Friday’s contests will join six other teams who secured a spot in Saturday’s Second Round. Day two of the annual tournament will open with All-CAA Third Team selection Kobe MaGee and No. 8 Drexel (17-14, 9-9) taking on Second Team selection TK Simpkins and No. 9 Elon (17-14, 8-10) at 12 p.m. The Phoenix secured a 65-54 win over the Dragons after Sam Sherry registered a team-best 19 points and nine boards.
No. 5 Campbell (15-16, 10-8) will await the winner of the Delaware/Stony Brook game to follow at 2:30 p.m. The Camels earned victories over both of their potential opponents and will look to All-CAA First Team honoree Colby Duggan to continue his scoring ways after finishing conference play with a league-best 19.8 points per contest.
Saturday’s evening session will begin with No. 7 Northeastern (17-14, 9-9) facing No. 10 Hampton (16-15, 8-10) at 6 p.m. The two programs battled to a season split as the road team captured the win in both contests. The Huskies and Pirates will square off for the first time in the CAA postseason on Saturday.
No. 6 Monmouth (12-19, 10-8) will take on the winner of Hofstra/N.C. A&T at 8:30 p.m., to wrap up day two of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Abdi Bashir Jr. leads the nation with 121 3-pointers made and sits five away from smashing the conference record for most made treys set by Tyler Thomas (125).
2025 CAA Player of the Year Tyler Tejada will look to lead top-seeded Towson (21-10, 16-2) to its first CAA title as it opens its postseason slate in Sunday’s Quarterfinal competition at noon. Tejada was joined by teammate Nendah Tarke and Head Coach Pat Skerry among the league’s major award winners with Sixth Man and Coach of the Year honors.
No. 4 William & Mary (17-14, 11-7) will follow Towson in the afternoon session with their contest scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tribe Head Coach Brian Earl, along with Hampton Head Coach Ivan Thomas and Charleston’s Chris Mack, will all look to become the seventh CAA coach to win a conference title in his first season, marking the first since VCU’s Anthony Grant in 2007.
After seeing the evening session begin with No. 2 UNCW (24-7, 13-5) at 6 p.m., No. 3 Charleston (23-8, 13-5) will begin their trek towards its third-straight conference tournament crown at 8:30 p.m. The Cougars will look to become just the second CAA program to win three consecutive championships, joining Navy (1985-87).
The semifinals will be played Monday, March 10, at 6 and 8:30 p.m., with the CAA Championship game tipping off Tuesday, March 11, at 7 p.m.
