CAA Softball Weekly Awards – April 14, 2025

RICHMOND, Va. (April 14, 2025) – Stony Brook’s
Alyssa Costello and
Nicole Allen captured Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, while
Megan Gregory of Campbell and
Billie Kerwood of Delaware dominated in the circle to split Pitcher of the Week recognition on Monday afternoon.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alyssa Costello, Stony Brook
Senior | Utility Player | Lanoka Harbor, N.J.
Costello slashed .643/.667/1.357 to help Stony Brook sweep Monmouth and capture its 11th straight CAA victory. Costello notched nine hits across four games with five going for extra bases. The Lanoka Harbor, N.J., product drove in
five runs, scored six times and stole three bases. Costello registered a multi-hit performance in all four games last week. After a two-hit showing at St. John’s, the senior utility player drove in four runs, including a three-run shot in the Seawolves’ 8-0 win on Friday. She followed up with another pair of base knocks and scored twice in a 14-3 victory the following day. Costello helped Stony Brook finish the sweep, falling a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with a trio of tallies and an RBI on Sunday.
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Megan Gregory, Campbell
Sophomore | Adairsville, Ga.
Gregory went 2-0 in the circle last week, boasting a 0.58 ERA and 10 strikeouts with two complete games. She surrendered just nine hits and one run in 12 innings of work. The sophomore out of Adairsville, Ga., tossed a complete-game shutout to lead the Camels to their first win against Coastal Carolina in five years. Gregory allowed just four hits and stranded 10 runners on base to stifle the Chanticleers. Campbell’s strikeout leader followed up with five punchouts in a five-inning affair to guide the Camels to a 10-1 win.
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Billie Kerwood, Delaware
Senior | Prospect Park, Pa.
Kerwood had dominant starts in her two CAA appearances against N.C. A&T that resulted in a pair of five-inning victories, part of Delaware's stretch of five-straight shutout wins. The Prospect Park, Pa., product threw four innings with just one hit allowed in each outing. For the weekend, she pitched eight innings, striking out 16 batters and surrendering just one walk. After punching out nine batters in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, she took a no-hit bid into the fifth inning before departing with seven strikeouts.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Nicole Allen, Stony Brook
Freshman | Outfielder | Penfield, N.Y.
Allen hit safely in all four games this week with a triple, home run, two runs and seven RBIs. The Penfield, N.Y., product smashed a three-run homer and smacked a two-run single into the right field corner for all five of her RBIs coming in the first inning of Stony Brook's win over Monmouth on Saturday. Allen followed up with a triple and two more tallies to help the Seawolves complete the sweep on Sunday, marking their 11th straight conference win.
