Trinity Glover split Player of the Week honors, while
Gabrielle Maday of Stony Brook and
Carley Ernst of Hofstra both produced outstanding performances in the circle to take Pitcher and Rookie of the Week accolades, respectively, on Monday afternoon.
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Morgan Hess, Delaware
Senior | P/OF | South Riding, Va.
Hess slashed .500/.500/.750 and pitched to a 2.86 ERA, including a no-hitter, during a 3-1 week for the Blue Hens. The senior utility player had six hits in 12 at-bats, including three doubles. She went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs on Friday against Monmouth before unloading a significant outing on Saturday. Hess unloaded a 2-for-3 showing at the dish with a double, while also tossing the Blue Hens’ second no-hitter in as many weekends. It marked her second career no-hitter, striking out six Monmouth hitters en route to her fifth shutout of the season.
Co-Player of the Week
Trinity Glover, N.C. A&T
Sophomore | Infielder | Warren Robins, Ga.
Glover had seven RBIs and three runs scored during the Aggies’ weekend series against Hampton. The sophomore infielder doubled and homered during the week, posting a .727 slugging percentage. Glover mashed a three-run homer in A&T’s 9-1 win over the Pirates on Saturday. The Warren Robins, Ga., native finished the weekend by driving in four of the Aggies' 16 runs on Sunday.
Pitcher of the Week
Gabrielle Maday, Stony Brook
Graduate Student | Clarkston, Mich.
Maday made three appearances last week, going 2-0 with one save and no runs allowed across 15.1 innings. Maday struck out 15 hitters, limiting opponents to just nine hits and a .167 batting average against. After recording a nine-out save against Wagner in the midweek, the Clarkston, Mich., native earned a win in relief against Hofstra with four strikeouts and two hits allowed in 5.1 innings of relief. Maday ended her week with a complete-game shutout with six punchouts to lift the Seawolves to a 2-0 win and a series victory.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Carley Ernst, Hofstra
Freshman | Pitcher | East Petersburg, Pa.
Ernst posted a 2-1 record with a 0.40 ERA in three appearances against St. John's and Stony Brook. In non-conference action against St. John's, Ernst tossed 5.1 shutout innings with two strikeouts in the Pride's 3-1 win over the BIG EAST-leading Red Storm. On Saturday against Stony Brook, Ernst pitched her second complete game shutout of the season, blanking the Seawolves across seven innings and striking out six batters while surrendering only three hits in a 6-0 win. In Sunday's rubber match, Ernst went five innings and struck out three Seawolves and allowed only one earned run in the 2-0 setback.
