RICHMOND, Va. (Apr. 30, 2024) – The top two seeds heading into the 2025 CAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship – Towson and Fairfield – swept this year’s major awards in the conference, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Towson junior attacker/midfielder Mikey Weisshaar was unanimously named CAA Offensive Player of the Year, while Fairfield sophomore defender Julian Radossich collected CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors. Towson redshirt freshman attacker Ronan Fitzpatrick was unanimously selected as the CAA Rookie of the Year, and his Head Coach Shawn Nadelen was named Co-CAA Coach of the Year alongside Fairfield’s Andrew Baxter.

Weisshaar cemented himself as one of the top attackers in the nation this season, pacing the conference in goals (39), goals per game (3.00), points (55), points per game (4.23) and shots per game (9.31). He also sits fifth in the conference with 16 assists. The Maryland native was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week four times, while also gaining national attention as a member of the 2025 Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American Second Team. Weisshaar was in the spotlight from the start after being named the USA Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year and the CAA Preseason Player of the Year.

Radossich collected his second CAA major award in as many seasons as a collegiate athlete. After earning CAA Rookie of the Year honors last season, the sophomore followed up his 2024 campaign with an impressive year in a Stags uniform, helping his side post a 9-0 start to the season. Radossich had a career year with a Fairfield record and personal best 41 caused turnovers that put him second in the nation. He added 39 ground balls and anchored a Stags’ defense that allowed a conference-low 125 goals.

Fitzpatrick was unanimously selected as the CAA Rookie of the Year after an outpouring of offense for the Tigers. Chosen as a four-time CAA Rookie of the Week, the redshirt freshman tallied 32 goals, putting him second on the team and fifth in the conference. Recording multiple goals in 10 of his 13 games, Fitzpatrick’s best performance came early in the season with five tallies against a nationally ranked John Hopkins program.

Baxter earned his first CAA Coach of the Year award after guiding Fairfield to its first national ranking since 2017 when the Stags were tabbed as No. 20 by USILA and No. 17 in that year’s Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook. Coaching the program to a 9-0 start, Fairfield reached as high as 12th in the nation in late March. Baxter’s team sat in the nation’s top 25 in several categories, including assists per game, caused turnovers per game, ground balls per game, points per game, scoring defense and scoring offense, among others for a majority of the season.

Nadelen saw his program go undefeated in conference play for the second consecutive campaign en route to winning the regular season conference title and his second straight CAA Coach of the Year honor. The Tigers have won their last 18 CAA regular season contests dating back to 2023. Nadelen has produced the top attackers in the conference with both Weisshaar and Fitzpatrick sitting atop the CAA’s goal charts, while defensively, Joe Petro and Conor Spagnolli are in the top 10 for caused turnovers.
