CAA Softball Weekly Awards – April 7, 2025

RICHMOND, Va. – Hofstra’s Anna Butler and Carley Ernst captured Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, while Megan Gregory of Campbell and Anna Dew of Elon split Pitcher of the Week recognition on Monday afternoon.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Anna Butler, Hofstra
Senior | Infielder | Seaford, N.Y.
Butler slashed .545/.583/.1.183 with a 6-for-11 showing at the dish as the Pride swept Drexel over the weekend. Of Butler's eight hits, two were multi-run homers and one was a double, recording five RBIs and crossing home plate five times. The senior first baseman went 2-for-4 with a two-run shot and a single in the Pride’s victory, 3-1, in game one of Friday’s doubleheader. She followed up with a 3-for-4 performance, doubling and scoring two runs to take game two, 4-0. In the final game of the series, Butler belted a three-run blast in the top of the fifth inning to cap off a 14-1 win on Saturday.
 
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Megan Gregory, Campbell
Sophomore | Adairsville, Ga.
Gregory dazzled in her two weekend victories at Monmouth, surrendering just two combined hits and striking out 11 batters in nine innings of work. The sophomore hurler opened the series with a five-inning no-hitter and punched out eight of the 18 batters faced. She followed up with another four innings of work, this time coming out of the bullpen and striking out three more Hawks. Gregory has not allowed a run in each of her last three outings and boasts a 16-inning scoreless streak entering the week.
 
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Anna Dew, Elon
Sophomore | Harrisburg, N.C.
Dew went 2-0 this weekend in the Phoenix's sweep against College of Charleston. Dew set a new career-high in strikeouts and innings pitched in the Phoenix's series finale over the Cougars, who came into the weekend tied for first in the CAA along with the Phoenix. Dew struck out six batters in a complete-game effort versus the Cougars on Sunday. Dew retired 16 of the final 17 batters she faced to seal the sweep. Prior to her complete-game victory, she came on in a crucial spot in extra innings on Friday and worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the ninth.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Carley Ernst, Hofstra
Freshman | Pitcher | East Petersburg, Pa.
In three appearances inside the circle, Ernst did not allow a single run - earned or unearned - and finished with a 0.00 ERA and a 1-0 mark with a save in 9.2 innings as the Pride swept Drexel. She held opposing batters to a .216 batting average against her. Ernst pitched the final two outs and recorded a strikeout in a 3-1 win before following up with her first career complete game. Ernst tossed seven shutout innings to go with a career-high seven strikeouts in the Pride’s 4-0 win. Ernst closed the series with two innings of relief and allowed just one hit as Hofstra finished the sweep.
