North Carolina A&T Captures First CAA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

FINAL RESULTS

GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 15, 2025) – North Carolina A&T captured its first CAA Men’s Track & Field Championship in front of its home crowd, winning five individual events and a relay on Thursday to post a commanding victory at the Marcus T. Johnson Track.
 
The Aggies finished with 177 points to top second-place Monmouth (141) and third-place William & Mary (115). Northeastern, which had won the past nine CAA titles, placed fourth with 112 points and was followed by UNCW (91), Hampton (73), Stony Brook (39), Campbell (32) and Hofstra (25).
 
Hofstra’s Abraham Longosiwa was chosen as the Men’s Outstanding Track Performer after winning the 5,000 and 10,000-meter races. UNCW’s Ivan Poag was selected as the Men’s Outstanding Field Performer following second-place performances in the high jump and long jump and a fourth-place finish in the triple jump.


 
Men’s 4x100m Relay 
Northeastern’s team of Noah Sweeney, Ethan Exilhomme, Tristen Howard and Brunner Williams got out to an early lead and held on to claim the gold medal with a 39.53 finish to earn the nation’s 33rd best time. North Carolina A&T podiumed for its first track event of the day with a 39.57 finish to post second, while Hampton’s 40.10 time was good for third. 
 
Men’s Hammer Throw 
Northeastern’s Nicholas Picsciotta held onto his crown as the CAA hammer throw champion for the fourth-straight season with a 60.99m winning toss. Monmouth placed two on the podium with Isaiah Battle (60.19m) claiming second and AJ Bailor (55.38m) earning third.
 
Men’s Shot Put
It was an Aggies sweep in the shot put, with A&T’s Brayden Hodgest’s 17,61m mark claiming first place. Carlos Alexander was close behind with a 17.56m toss, while Alex Henry took third with a throw of 17.19m.
 
Men’s Triple Jump
North Carolina A&T’s Xavier Partee recorded the longest triple jump at the CAA Championship since 2001 with a winning leap of 15.88m. William & Mary’s Armon Wright claimed silver with a 15.51m jump and A&T’s TyHeak Buie placed third with a jump of 15.36m.
 
Men’s 1500 Meters
Colin Gilstrap won Stony Brook’s first gold medal of the day with a 3:48.65 time in the event. William & Mary’s Caleb Wilcox took second with a 3:51.42 mark and third place went to Monmouth’s Tomas Barry (3:53.51).
 
Men’s 110m Hurdles
UNCW took the gold and silver medals in the event with Cameron Wright’s 14.11 effort getting the win. Fellow Seahawk Khairi Williams placed second on a pr 14.33 , while Mekhi Dupree from Campell was third at 14.33 as well.
 
Men’s 400 Meters
The Aggies were dominant in the event taking places one through four. Xzaviah Taylor crossed the line first in 46.01 seconds, followed by teammates Elijah Thomas (46.19) and Caleb Gurnell (46.25).
 
Men’s 100 Meters
Deondre McInTosh of Hampton set a new personal best with a winning time of 10.35. Taking second was Northeastern’s Tristen Howard (10.40) and placing third was Jaeden Gumbs of North Carolina A&T (10.40).
 
Men’s 800 Meters
N.C. A&T’s Dyimond Walker pr’ed and cracked the NCAA’s top-100 with a 1:48.29 time to earn gold. His teammate, Dawson Grogan, came second fractions behind him with a 1:48.38 effort while Northeastern’s Conall Rogers placed third with a career-best 1:49.39.
 
Men’s 400m Hurdles
The sophomore-siblings from A&T finished one-two with Xzaviah Taylor (51.07) getting the best of his brother Isaiah Taylor (51.43). Cameron Rogers podiumed for Northeastern with a 51.51 time.
 
Men’s 200 Meters
Mehkhi Dupree from Campbell won a close race finishing with a 21.19 time. Hampton’s Deondre McInTosh was quick to follow at 21.31, while Northeastern’s Brunner Williams placed third on a 21.45 pace.
 
Men’s High Jump
UNCW earned the two top spots in the event with Donovan Lara winning on a 2.08m leap. Ivan Poag had his career-best performance with a 2.04m to claim second, while N.C. A&T’s Yule Pieters took third on a 2.04m jump.
 
Men’s Discus
Monmouth’s Isaiah Battle stopped A&T from taking the top three podium spots after hurling the discus 50.56m to win the event. A&T’s Carlos Alexander (49.38m), Brayden Hodgest (49.23m), and Alex Henry (48.71m) claimed the next three spots for the Aggies.
 
Decathlon  
The top three finishers in the decathlon all broke the CAA meet record. Earning gold was William & Mary’s Brian Walsh with 7,076 points. Close behind were defending champion Jan Volkmar of Monmouth with 7,049 points and David Strong of Monmouth with 7,028 points.
 
Men’s 5000 Meters
Abraham Longosiwa won his second distance event of the weekend for Hofstra, claiming the 5000m with a 14:55.54 finish. Stony Brook reached the podium with two runners right on his heels as Steven Struk (14:55.90) and Henry Gartner (14:56.53) were second and third.
 
Men’s 4x400m Relay 
North Carolina A&T closed the meet with a victory in the 4X400 relay as the team of Elijah Thomas, Caleb Gurnell, Jailen Hicks and Isaiah Taylor finished in 3:07.49. Hampton placed second (3:08.65) and UNCW was third (3:09.21).
