RICHMOND, Va. (May 19, 2025) – UNCW sophomore outfielder Mac Gillespie and Stony Brook sophomore first baseman Erik Paulsen shared CAA baseball Player of the Week honors, while UNCW senior right-hander Zane Taylor repeated as CAA Pitcher of the Week. Charleston freshman third baseman Landon Penfield received Rookie of the Week honors.

CAA Baseball Co-Player of the Week
Mac Gillespie, UNCW – So., OF – Apex, N.C.                                                                                                                                          Gillespie batted .500 (6-12) with a double, triple and seven RBI’s in UNCW’s road series sweep at Elon. In Friday’s 11-5 win, the sophomore was a career-best 4-for-4 and drove in five. In the finale, he was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI’s in a 9-5 victory. The multi-hit games were the first for Gillespie since April 5.

CAA Baseball Co-Player of the Week
Erik Paulsen, Stony Brook – So., 1B – Massapequa, N.Y.
Paulsen batted .429 (6-14) with a double, homer, five runs and six RBI’s in Stony Brook’s series sweep of Monmouth. The sophomore had two hits in all three games, including a walk-off RBI single in the 11th of Thursday’s 8-7 win. He capped the series by going 2-for-4 with four RBI’s, highlighted by a 3-run homer, in a 12-5 win.

CAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Zane Taylor, UNCW – Sr., RHP – Franklinton, N.C.
Taylor repeats as Pitcher of the Week after limiting Elon to one hit over 7.0 scoreless innings in Thursday’s 7-2 victory. The right-hander retired the first 19 batters he faced before allowing a single in the seventh. He finished with eight strikeouts and no walks and improved to 10-2 for the season.

CAA Baseball Rookie of the Week
Landon Penfield, Charleston – Fr., 3B – Blythewood, S.C.
Penfield batted .333 (6-18) with three doubles, three homers, seven runs and 10 RBI’s in Charleston’s 3-1 week. The freshman recorded two extra-base hits in all three games against Hofstra. He had a double, homer and four RBI’s in an 11-4 win on Thursday and doubled twice in Friday’s 6-2 victory. In Saturday's 16-15 setback, Penfield hit a solo homer and a game-tying grand slam.
