Towson Claims 10th CAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship

TOWSON, Md. (May, 3, 2025) – After 45 minutes full of momentum swings, No.1 Towson (11-5) pulled ahead early in the fourth to grab a 13-10 victory over No. 3 Drexel (8-8) to claim the CAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Saturday afternoon atJohnny Unitas Stadium. Towson now has 10 CAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships to its name.
Mikey Weisshaar was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player as Towson became the first team to repeat as champions since Delaware accomplished the feat between 2022-23.
The Tigers were led by a first-half hat trick from Ronan Fitzpatrick, who finished the game with five goals, while Weisshaar had two goals and three assists to make It 13 points on the weekend. In the cage, Luke Downs made nine stops.
Max Semple and Connor Hooley both had hat tricks alongside two goals and two assists for Witt Crawford. Facing 25 shots on goal, Brendan Donnelly made 12 saves for Drexel.
Towson outshot the Dragons narrowly on a 36-32 split while causing 11 turnovers compared to Drexel’s eight.
Drexel took the early 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Crawford and Hooley, but it was Towson which stole back the moment and scored five straight from the end of the first quarter through the start of the second. After netting the first goal of the game, Fitzpatrick continued his scoring dominance charting two during the stretch as the Tigers took a 6-2 lead. Defensively, Drexel was held to three goals while only being allowed 12 shots as Towson held a 7-3 halftime advantage.
The Dragons clawed their way back into the game in the third quarter outscoring Towson 3-1 in the frame. Semple was on fire tallying a hat trick in the quarter alone to put his side within two, 8-6, heading into the fourth. Drexel continued its strong second-half performance with Hooley firing one past Downs's goal a little over a minute into the fourth.
Towson cut into the Dragons’ momentum with Ryan Schrier’s goal before Fitzpatrick sealed his spot on the CAA All-Tournament Team with two more goals to put the game out of reach for the Dragons. Fitzpatrick now has three games this season with five or more goals.
Towson will await the NCAA selection show on Sunday, May 4 at 9:30 p.m. to decide its fate in the tournament.
