BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Hofstra’s pitching tandem Emma Falen and Carley Ernst tossed six combined innings of no-hit action en route to a 3-0 victory over third-seeded Charleston at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium on Thursday.

The duo combined to surrender just one hit over their seven combined innings of action. Falen went five innings and allowed just two baserunners in total, while punching out four. Ernst picked up the save in the win, marking her sixth of the 2025 campaign.

After a blank opening frame, Dahlia Palacio hammered a solo homer over the right-field wall to give Hofstra an early 1-0 edge.

The Pride added another in the top of the fourth. Alanna Morse smacked a leadoff single up the middle and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Tyler Douglas made it a 2-0 lead in favor of Hofstra with another base knock into center field.

Falen surrendered just one base runner over the first four frames. The Folsom, Calif., native retired nine straight batters before running into trouble in the fifth. After walking the leadoff batter, the Pride found themselves with one out and runners on the corners. Falen remained composed, forcing a flyout to center and getting a swing-and-miss through strike three to get out of the jam.

Hofstra threatened in the top of the sixth stanza with a Chelsea Villar leadoff double and a Morse single to put runners on first and third with no outs. The Pride’s Anna Butler drove in Villar on a sacrifice fly in foul territory down the left-field line to make it 3-0. Charleston came out of the frame with just one run allowed, inducing back-to-back putouts in the infield.

Reliever Ernst came on in the bottom of the sixth and worked a 1-2-3 frame before being tested in the seventh inning. The righty saw the first two batters reach base safely, only for both to tag up and advance to second and third on a fly out to right. Ernst came out on the winning end of a seven-pitch battle with a strikeout in the ensuing at-bat before shutting the door with a groundout to first.
