Four CAA Baseball Standouts Invited To Participate In 2025 MLB Draft Combine

RICHMOND, Va. (June 17, 2025) – Four CAA baseball standouts have been invited to participate in the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft Combine, which will be held June 17-21 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz.
Among the 322 prospects at the event are first baseman
Tanner Thach and pitcher
Zane Taylor of UNCW, pitcher
Justin Mitrovich of Elon and outfielder
Cam Maldonado of Northeastern.
MLB Network will broadcast live from 12-6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the first of two days of pro-style workouts. The telecast will include batting practice and infield/outfield drills for position players and bullpen sessions for pitchers, as well as analysis of the prospects and interviews with players and team executives. The six hours of coverage on Tuesday will also stream on MLB.com, MLB.TV and in the MLB App.
Thach batted a team-best .325 with 12 homers and 46 RBI’s this season. The 2024 CAA Co-Player of the Year and two-time first-team All-CAA selection is the Seahawks’ career leader in home runs (54) and RBI’s (189).
Taylor, the 2025 CAA Pitcher of the Year, went 11-2 this season with a league-best 1.98 ERA and recorded a conference-high 105 strikeouts in 95.2 innings. He has already received All-America accolades from the ABCA and NCBWA.
Mitrovich posted a 6-4 record with a 4.23 ERA in 2025 and struck out 81 batters over 89.1 innings. The honorable mention All-CAA selection ranks among the top five in career strikeouts at Elon.
Maldonado batted .351 with 17 doubles, 15 homers, 76 runs scored and 59 RBI’s this season to help lead Northeastern to a CAA title. He added 29 stolen bases and received first-team All-CAA and first-team ABCA All-Northeast Region accolades.
