Charleston’s van Wyk Tabbed PING and Golfweek Third Team All-American

RICHMOND, Va. (June 9, 2025) – CAA Golfer of the Year Kieron van Wyk of Charleston was named a Division I PING Third Team All-American, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Monday afternoon. Van Wyk also earned Third Team distinction by Golfweek, becoming the program’s first All-American.
The Cougars’ van Wyk etched his name in the CAA record book as the only student-athlete to secure three Golfer of the Year awards following a stellar senior campaign. The Ruimsig, South Africa native finished the year ranked No. 27 in the country, according to Clippd. With an adjusted round score of 69.1, van Wyk earned four finishes inside the top three this season, including a pair of wins at the Hootie Intercollegiate (March 23-25) and White Sands Collegiate (Oct. 25-27, 2024).
Charleston’s top golfer was also one of 12 individual golfers to shoot under par in the NCAA Auburn Regional on May 12-14. Van Wyk posted a 1-under across the three rounds of competition with 11 birdies and an eagle.
Van Wyk has continued his golf career in the Korn Ferry Tour, the developmental pathway for the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA).
