Jack Shannon earned CAA men’s soccer weekly award winners for the week ending on September 21st.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryan Miralrio, UNCW
Junior | Forward | Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Summit
Miralrio had five points in a week that saw UNCW go 1-0-1, including earning a draw against the top-ranked program in the country. The junior helped fuel a two-goal comeback against No.1 Wake Forest with a second-half strike, contributing to a 3-3 draw, before tacking on a goal and an assist against Charleston in a 4-2 victory. Miralrio has two goals and three assists during the Seahawks' three-game unbeaten streak.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Raul Garcia, Monmouth
Junior | Defender| Madrid, Spain / Instituto Profesor Maximo Trueba
Garcia played a key role in the Hawks picking up two road wins last week, starting with a 2-1 victory against La Salle. The Madrid resident helped anchor a backline that allowed just one second half goal to the Explorers. Against CAA rivals Hofstra, Garcia not only helped Monmouth to its first shutout since last season but also netted the game-winner in a 1-0 victory.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jack Shannon, Drexel
Freshman | Forward | Houston Texas, Linwood High School
Shannon tallied four points in Drexel’s undefeated weekend, including a career-high assist tally against Stony Brook. The freshman forward scored the Dragon’s second of the game in a 3-3 draw with Penn, intercepting a ball at midfield and driving into space before driving one into the back of the net. A few days later, against the Seawolves, Shannon provided assists on both goals in a 2-0 win to earn Drexel its second conference win of the season.
