CAA Football Weekly Awards - Sept. 8

RICHMOND, Va. (September 8, 2025) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 2 of the 2025 season. Monmouth graduate quarterback Derek Robertson was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week while William & Mary graduate linebacker Luke Banbury and Bryant graduate linebacker Brandon Perkins shared Defensive Player of the Week honors. New Hampshire sophomore kicker Nick Reed was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week and Elon freshman quarterback Landen Clark received Rookie of the Week accolades.
CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Derek Robertson, Gr., QB, Monmouth (Hartsdale, N.Y./Bridgton Academy)
Robertson completed 30-of-44 passes for 364 yards and a program-record six touchdowns while adding a seventh TD on the ground in Monmouth’s 49-28 road win at Fordham. The grad student fired five scoring passes in the first half before adding his first career rushing TD and a record-breaking TD throw in the fourth quarter. Robertson’s six TD passes are the most by any FCS player in 2025.
CAA Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Luke Banbury, Gr., LB, William & Mary (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair)
Banbury recorded a career-high 16 tackles and broke up three passes in William & Mary’s 28-27 win over Maine. The 16 stops were the most by a CAA player this season and his final pass breakup led to an interception with 2:28 left that clinched the victory. W&M held Maine to just 97 passing yards.
CAA Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Brandon Perkins, Sr., LB, Bryant (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown)
Perkins registered a career-high 14 tackles and a team-best 2.0 tackles for loss as Bryant edged UMass, 27-26, for its win over an FBS opponent in program history. The senior linebacker made two stops as the Bulldogs forced a 3-and-out with 1:45 to go and set the stage for a game-winning drive.
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Nick Reed, So., PK, New Hampshire (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison)
Reed booted four field goals, including a game-winning 40-yarder as time expired, to send New Hampshire past Holy Cross, 19-16. The sophomore also hit kicks from 33 and 30 yards before making a career-long 50-yarder to tie the game with 9:16 left. Reed added an extra point to account for 13 of UNH’s 19 points in the win.
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Landen Clark, Fr., QB, Elon (Radford, Va./Radford)
In just one half of football, Clark accounted for 284 yards of offense and four touchdowns as Elon rolled over Davidson, 55-7. The redshirt freshman was 15-of-24 passing for a career-high 247 yards and 3 TD’s and added 37 yards and a TD on eight carries as the Phoenix piled up 41 first-half points.
