RICHMOND, Va. (January 4, 2025) – Twenty point performances all around and an overtime thriller made up a very exciting day of women’s CAA hoops.
Charleston 85, Northeastern 58

Taryn Barbot and Tyja Beans combined for 52 of the Cougars 85 points as Charleston defeated Northeastern 85-58. Robin Harmony’s program jumped out to an early double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back. After Barbot scored the opening five points, the Cougars kept on the offensive, outscoring the Huskies 21-10. Northeastern stole the momentum multiple times, including a 9-0 run to close out the first half, but the prolific duo came out in the third, combining for 21 of the 28 points in the frame. Barbot finished as Charleston’s leader with an impressive 29 points while Kailee Beaudion-Foliaki had 11 for Northeastern.
Monmouth 66, N.C. A&T 55

After a career performance two days prior against Elon, Monmouth’s Gigi Gamble was at it again in a 61-55 win over N.C. A&T. Entering the second half up just one point, Gamble got going, making a driving layup to move Monmouth up 30-26 a minute in. After the Aggies tied it back up at 32, the guard drained two treys as part of a 15-point run at the end of the third. Gamble now has two straight games with 20 or more points after totaling 25 against the Aggies. For A&T, Paris Locke had a team-high 18 alongside four rebounds.
Stony Brook 73, William & Mary 57 OT

Stony Brook ran away with the game in overtime, defeating William & Mary 73-57. Deadlocked coming out of the final media timeout, both teams traded buckets with Cassidy Geddes tying up the game at 54 with 10 seconds to go. Heading into overtime, momentum was in favor of the Seawolves. Janay Brantley opened the scoring with a free throw before Diaka Berete dropped 10 points to outscore the Tribe 19-3 in overtime. With 10 of her 24 points coming in the final five minutes, Diaka Berete finished as the Seawolves' leading scorer, while Geddes had a team-high 21.
Elon 84, Hampton 75
Box Score
La’Nae Corbett’s 28 points led Elon past Hampton 84-75. The Phoenix built up a first-half lead that it never relinquished, with Corbett and Kamry Doty combining for 19 points for the team’s 25 points. Up six points heading into the first media timeout, Kamryn Doty took over. The redshirt senior guard drained three straight 3-pointers in the span of a minute and a half before driving into the lane and scoring a layup to close out the half. Corbett had a sneaky eight in the quarter, going 4-for-4 from the field. Kayla Lezama’s 23 points led the Pirates.
Hofstra 54, UNCW 46
Box Score
Hofstra took over in the third quarter to defeat UNCW 54-46. Carrying a 32-24 lead into the second half, the Pride began to stretch out its advantage in the third frame thanks to a 9-0 run. Alarice Gooden got Hofstra going with a driving layup before Deivejon Harris scored two points of her own. Emma Von Essen’s 3-pointer capped off the stretch that saw UNCW held scoreless for nearly four minutes of play and extended the lead to 15. Nevaeh Brown was one of two Hofstra players to reach double digits with a team-high 15. Torin Rogers posted 12 for UNCW.
Campbell 62, Drexel 51
Box Score
After an opening day defeat to Towson, Campbell rallied to best Drexel 62-51. The Camels were persistent defensively, restricting one of the CAA’s hottest offenses to its lowest points tally of the season. Limited to 32.7% shooting from the floor, Ronny Fisher’s side capitalized on nine forced turnovers to score 14 points compared to Drexel’s four off turnovers. The Camels were also dominant on the glass, outrebounding Drexel 27-16 defensively. Olivia Tucker was the star offensively, leading the team with 18, while Drexel’s Amaris Baker had a game-high 22.
