Kirsten Kemper captured CAA Volleyball Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, while Charleston’s
JuJu Martin earned her second straight Defensive Player of the Week recognition on Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Agata Zwierzynska, N.C. A&T
Junior | Right-Side Hitter | Cerekwica, Poland
Zwierzynska had a stellar offensive weekend in two wins over UNC Wilmington on Friday and Saturday. The Polish product posted a .473 hitting percentage over two matches and averaged 4.71 kills in seven sets played. The junior right-side hitter scored 34.5 points thanks to three total blocks over the weekend. On Friday, Zwierzynska tallied a career-high 16 kills and a career-best .520 hitting percentage to lead A&T to a 3-0 win. Her personal-best kill total only lasted one day as she followed up with 17 kills on a .433 hitting percentage in A&T's four-set win over the Seahawks on Saturday.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JuJu Martin, Charleston
Sophomore | Libero | Fort Mill, S.C.
Martin averaged 5.86 digs/set in a road sweep of Stony Brook while adding 11 assists and 3 service aces. In Friday's four-set victory, the Cougars’ libero dug out 25 balls on the backline to go along with six assists. On Saturday, Martin collected 16 digs in the straight-set win, helping hold the Seawolves to a .112 attacking percentage.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kirsten Kemper, N.C. A&T
Freshman | Setter | Cincinnati, Ohio
Kemper averaged 10.57 assists per set in an errorless weekend at the setter position to help N.C. A&T sweep UNCW inside Moore Gymnasium. The Cincinnati, Ohio product also averaged 2.00 digs, 0.43 blocks, and 0.29 aces per set. In A&T's win on Friday, the freshman setter posted 38 assists, seven digs and a block. On Saturday, she added 36 assists, seven digs, two blocks and two aces.
