Valentina Lopez Moya captured CAA Volleyball Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, while Towson’s
Clara Vorel earned her Rookie of the Week recognition on Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ella Sanders, Stony Brook
Junior | Outside Hitter | Albuquerque, N.M.
Sanders paced the Seawolves with 32 kills (4.00 K/S) in a weekend sweep at Northeastern. The junior outside hitter finished second on the team with 19 digs, seven blocks and five service aces. Sanders rattled off 13 kills and nine digs on Saturday, topping 800 career kills in the process. The Albuquerque, N.M., product followed up with her 20th career double-double on Sunday, notching 19 kills and 10 digs to go with three aces and four blocks.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Valentina Lopez Moya, Hofstra
Sophomore | Middle Blocker | Santa Lucía, San Juan Province, Argentina
Lopez Moya helped Hofstra to a 2-0 road week at William & Mary, leading the Pride with 1.57 blocks per set across seven sets as Hofstra held the Tribe to a .140 attack percentage over the two matches. In Friday’s five-set win, Lopez Moya recorded a career-high 11.0 blocks in just four sets, the most by a Hofstra player this season and the most by a Pride player since Julia Amorim’s 14 against Temple on Sept. 14, 2025. Her performance helped Hofstra complete the weekend sweep and move to 16-4 overall and 11-1 in the CAA. Lopez Moya also contributed offensively, totaling 11 kills on .391 hitting for the week to go with 2.50 per set.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Clara Vorel, Towson
Freshman | Middle Blocker | Rincon, Ga.
Vorel amassed 12 kills on a .611 hitting percentage across two matches last weekend, adding five blocks in the Tigers' sweep of Hampton. The freshman tallied eight kills on a season-high .889 hitting percentage to go with three blocks in the Tigers' first win over the Pirates on Thursday. She capped the weekend with four kills and a pair of stuffs at the net on Friday.
