Bryce Leatherwood and William & Mary’s
Teagan Pocius split Rookie of the Week recognition on Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ella Sanders, Stony Brook
Redshirt Junior | Outside Hitter | Albuquerque, N.M.
Sanders picked up her second straight Offensive Player of the Week honor after leading the Seawolves with 31 kills (3.44 K/S), 32 digs (3.56 D/S) and six service aces in a weekend split with UNCW. The junior outside hitter also chipped in five blocks for the Seawolves. The outside hitter recorded a double-double in both matches with 16 kills and 13 digs on Friday, followed by a 15-kill, 19-dig effort in Saturday’s win. She also produced four aces and three blocks in the team's five-set victory.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JuJu Martin, Charleston
Sophomore | Libero | Fort Mill, S.C.
Martin dug out 38 balls in a split weekend for the Cougars, averaging 5.29 per set en route to helping Charleston secure its 20th win and clinch a spot in the conference tournament. Martin collected 21 digs in Friday's match before adding 16 on the weekend in the team’s straight-set win over William & Mary.
CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Bryce Leatherwood, Northeastern
Freshman | Middle Blocker | San Diego, Calif.
Leatherwood put together 16 kills on a .536 hitting mark to go with six digs and eight blocks in a weekend sweep of Hampton. The freshman middle blocker tied her season high with five blocks in Friday night’s contest, chipping two solo efforts and slamming down six kills. The San Diego, Calif., native followed that up with a season-high 10 kills on Saturday, chipping three blocks and six digs to close out the weekend.
CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Teagan Pocius, William & Mary
Freshman | Middle Blocker | St. Louis, Mo.
Pocius racked up 17 kills on .484 hitting in a split weekend against Charleston. The freshman also added four blocks to her final stat line. The St. Louis, Mo., product had seven kills and three blocks in Friday's 3-1 win over Charleston, helping snap the Cougars’ 19-match winning streak and handing them their first CAA loss
. On Saturday, Pocius chipped in 10 kills and hit .444 in a three-set match.
