RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 10, 2026) –North Carolina A&T received four weekly awards after an excellent performance at the Carolina Classic, while Hampton garnered one conference accolade after a record-setting effort.
 
CO- WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brianna Charles, Hampton 
Senior | Sprinter | Guyana

Charles dominated at the Penn Classic, setting two records throughout the day. First in the 60m dash, the senior posted a meet record with a 7.40 finish. Charles followed that up with another meet record in the 200m race, winning in 23.83. Her times in the 60m and 200m races are top marks in the CAA and rank inside the nation’s top-100 performances.

 

CO- WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Deavion Deleon, N.C. A&T 
Junior | Mid-Distance / Distance | Papillion, Neb. / Papillion-La Vista South

Deleon finished second in the mile, breaking an A&T program record in the event for the second-consecutive week. The Nebraska native ran a 4:49.26 race to shatter her own record by almost eight seconds.  Deleon moved into third place in the CAA for the event.

   

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Spirit Morgan, N.C. A&T

Graduate Student | Jumper | Miami, Fla. / Miami Southridge

Morgan collected her second-consecutive CAA weekly accolade, breaking the Aggies program record in the women’s high jump. A week after she eclipsed a 12-year standard at A&T, she became the only female in Aggie history to jump six feet. With her 1.83m win at the Carolina Classic, Morgan is now tied for first in the CAA and 16th nationally.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jason Holmes, N.C. A&T
Senior | Hurdler/Sprinter | Baltimore, Md. / Calvert Hall College

Holmes won his signature event at the Carolina Classic. The two-time second-team indoor All-American clocked a 7.63 finish in the 60m hurdles to take top spot in the CAA and now sits in a tie for 15th nationally.  

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Yule Pieters, N.C. A&T
Junior | Jumper | Potomac, Md. / Thomas S. Wotton

Pieters won the men’s high jump at the Carolina Classic this past Saturday at the University of South Carolina. Jumping 2.07m (6’9”), the junior notched the second-best leap in program history while also moving into first place in the CAA.
