CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kavion McClain, Monmouth
Senior | Guard | Memphis, Tenn.
McClain averaged 18.5 points and 5.5 assists per game while leading the Hawks to a 2-0 week. The senior guard connected on 45.2% of his attempts from the field and 42.9% from distance, while adding three rebounds and four steals. McClain poured in a season-high 20 points in 22 minutes of action in the Hawks' 93-73 win at Drexel. He was 7-for-11 from the field with a trio of 3-pointers. The Memphis, Tenn., native added a season-high six assists with two rebounds and three steals. In Sunday night’s win over Towson, he added a team-high 17 points to go along with five assists, one steal and one rebound. McClain has dished out at least five assists and made three three-pointers in each of the last three games, which has also led to the Hawks' first three-game win streak of the season.
CAA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Walker guided the Aggies to an incredible come-from-behind win over Hampton at the fifth installment of the NBA HBCU Classic in Los Angeles on Friday. Walker registered 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting and eight made free throws in the win. Four of those makes from the charity stripe were instrumental in helping the Aggies rally from a seven-point deficit with 1:52 remaining. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native also forced a critical steal in the final 45 seconds of the game en route to A&T's 71-70 win inside the Kia Forum at NBA All-Star 2026.
NATIONAL TV FRENZY
All five of the CAA’s national TV games went down to the wire over the weekend, all being decided by five points or less. Three of those contests saw a game-winning bucket come in the final minute of action.
A furious scoring effort over the final 75 seconds saw Stony Brook come out on top with a 72-69 victory over Drexel on Monday, thanks to a putback finish from Erik Pratt and a late steal by Andrej Shoshkikj. Pratt led all scorers with 21 points, eight boards and five assists. Shoshkikj notched 14 points and three total steals in the winning effort. Richard Goods rounded out those in double figures with 17 points. The Dragons’ Shane Blakeney led with 19 points and four boards.
Justin Ray’s late 3-pointer with under 30 seconds to play lifted Monmouth to a 72-71 victory over Towson on Sunday. The sharpshooter saw three of his four makes go down from distance en route to 15 points. Kavion McClain led five Hawks in double figures with 17 points and five assists. Andrew Ball, Stefanos Spartalis and Jason Rivera-Torres chipped in 10 points apiece, with the latter notching 13 boards, five assists and five steals. The Tigers’ Dylan Williamson scored a game-high 27 points.
Centers Chol Machot and Christian Reeves combined for 35 points, 21 rebounds and nine blocks as Charleston secured a 62-57 victory at Campbell on Sunday. Reeves led the charge with his sixth double-double of the season, notching 18 points on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting from the floor with 15 boards and three swats. Machot logged 17 points and six stuffs in 23 minutes off the bench. The Cougars held the Camels to a 9.5% shooting clip from distance (2-21 3FG). Campbell’s Jeremiah Johnson scored 16 points in a full 40 minutes of work.
Christian May’s late 3-pointer pushed UNCW to a 70-66 victory over Hofstra inside Trask Coliseum on Saturday. The graduate guard logged 13 points, seven boards and a trio of assists. Wessler led the Seahawks with an 18-point, nine-rebound effort, while Madison Durr and Nolan Hodge chipped in 11 and 10 points apiece, respectively. Hofstra had two players eclipse the 20-point threshold in Cruz Davis (22 pts) and Preston Edmead (21 pts), and Joshua DeCady rounded out the Pride in double figures with 14 of his own.
For the fifth time in eight CAA conference showdowns, the battle between North Carolina A&T and Hampton was decided by one point as a late three-point play by Trent Middleton Jr. erased a nine-point deficit and propelled the Aggies to a 71-70 victory in the fifth installment of the NBA HBCU Classic during at NBA All-Star 2026. The senior guard cut through the paint and drew contact through his up-and-under attempt, getting the bank off the glass before sinking the free throw to seal the game at Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif. Middleton finished with 15 points, four boards, three assists and a trio of steals. Lewis Walker led all scorers with 18 points to go on a 5-of-9 shooting clip and eight made free throws.
Bryson Cokley sank seven 3-pointers, including the game-winner with two seconds remaining, to help Elon knock off William & Mary with an 81-78 victory as the league’s lone non-TV game on Saturday. The Phoenix handed the Tribe just their second loss inside Kaplan Arena this season. The sophomore guard posted a career-high 29 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor and a 6-for-6 showing at the charity stripe. Chandler Cuthrell chipped in 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Isaac Harrell rounded out those in double figures with 12 points of his own. Kyle Pulliam led four Tribe players with double-digit scoring efforts, notching 18 points.
THURSDAYS ARE FOR THE CAA
William & Mary will head to Campbell for their second meeting of the season, squaring off at 7 p.m. on FloCollege. The Camels’ DJ Smith unloaded 39 points in the 104-96 win over the Tribe on Jan. 31.
North Carolina A&T will welcome Charleston for a 7 p.m. tilt on FloCollege. The Cougars captured a 78-62 win in their first go-around with the Aggies, needing a pair of 16-point efforts from Jlynn Counter and Christian Reeves to secure the win.
Northeastern will play host to Drexel at 7 p.m. on FloCollege. The Dragons secured an 83-78 victory on Jan. 24 behind a 22-point effort off the bench by Josh Reed.
Monmouth and UNCW each ride a three-game winning streak into their head-to-head showdown at 7 p.m. on FloCollege. The Seahawks are also 4-0 in the all-time series since the Hawks joined the CAA.
Hampton and Hofstra will face off on CBS Sports Network, closing the night from Long Island with an 8 p.m. showdown. The Pirates picked up their first win over the Pride in their lone meeting last season, earning a 67-49 victory on Feb. 15, 2025. Wayne Bristol Jr. had 16 points and eight boards in the win.
CAMPBELL CAMELS (12-14; 6-7 CAA)
- The Camels have won three of their last four games. In conference games, Campbell ranks second with 78.9 ppg and 7.4 spg as a team.
- DJ Smith has stepped up in league action with a CAA-best 22.0 ppg, while ranking second with 3.1 made treys per game.
CHARLESTON COUGARS (17-10; 10-4 CAA)
- Charleston’s Chol Machot logged six blocks in the team’s win over Campbell on Feb. 15. The big man has registered five or more swats in a game on six occasions, and became the first CAA player since W&M’s Nathan Knight (2018) to six blocks in at least four games in a season. Machot is second in the nation with 71 blocks.
- Christian Reeves produced his sixth double-double in his last time out, doing so in just 15:34 of action. He joins Michigan State’s Jaxon Kohler and Illinois’ David Mirkovic as the nation’s only known players to complete a double-double in the first half this season.
DREXEL DRAGONS (13-14; 7-7 CAA)
- Drexel’s Shane Blakeney has come on strong over the last three games, averaging 17.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 3.3 apg across 36.5 minutes of work.
- The Dragons’ Eli Beard and Blakeney round out the league’s top 10 in 3-pointers made per game, each posting 2.0 per contest.
ELON PHOENIX (14-13; 6-8 CAA)
- Elon swept the Tribe in the season series for the first time since 2021 with its 81-78 victory on Feb. 14. Bryson Cokley sank a GW triple in Saturday’s matchup, part of a seven-triple, 29-point showing inside Kaplan Arena. Isaac Harrell notched 14 points in the win, scoring in double figures and averaging 17.0 ppg on 57.6% shooting over the last three games.
- Chandler Cuthrell has been a steady force offensively for the Phoenix this season, being one of three conference players to average 20 points or more, posting 20.2 ppg in 27 appearances.
HAMPTON PIRATES (12-14; 6-7 CAA)
- Hampton returns to action on Thursday when it heads to Long Island to face Hofstra in an 8 p.m. tilt on CBS Sports Network. The Pirates picked up their first win in the series on Feb. 15, 2025, earning a 67-49 win at home.
- The Pirates picked up their first victory over William & Mary since 2023. Hampton moved to 9-1 inside Convocation Center this season, and has won 13 of their last 14 contests at home.
HOFSTRA PRIDE (17-10; 8-6 CAA)
- Hofstra has won four of its last five games, led by Cruz Davis and Preston Edmead. Davis is averaging 20.2 ppg, 4.0 apg and a +2.2 a/t ratio. Edmead has been equally as steady for the Pride with 15.0 ppg, 6.6 apg, 5.8 rpg and a +2.8 a/t ratio.
- The Pride is the league’s top defensive team, holding the opposition to 39.6% shooting from the floor, good for 16th in the nation. Hofstra is also the top 3-point shooting team with a 37.1% efficiency from distance.
MONMOUTH HAWKS (14-12; 8-5 CAA)
- The Hawks have won three straight and five of their last six games. Jason Rivera-Torres continues to shine with 17.7 ppg, 11.0 rpg and 3.7 spg.
- Kavion McClain has provided a large boost in the backcourt since the start of the winning streak, logging 17.0 ppg on 44.2% shoooting from the floor and 3.0 made triples per contest. He has also dished out 5.3 apg in 32.0 minutes per slate.
N.C. A&T AGGIES (10-14; 3-10 CAA)
- N.C. A&T’s Trent Middleton Jr. played hero at the NBA HBCU Classic, connecting on an and-one and sinking the free throw with four seconds to seal the win.
- The Aggies’ Lewis Walker remains sixth among freshmen nationally with 19.1 ppg. Walker has logged double-digit scoring performances in 21 of his 23 appearances this season. His 33-point efforts against W&M and Towson were the most by a CAA freshman in a league game since James Madison’s Matt Lewis posted 33 points against Charleston on Feb. 15, 2018.
UNCW SEAHAWKS (22-4; 11-2 CAA)
- UNCW became the first CAA team to reach the 20-win plateau this season with a win over Charleston on Feb. 9. It marked the fifth straight season the Seahawks have registered 20 or more victories.
- The Seahawks have won three straight games. Patrick Wessler has averaged 14.3 ppg and 9.0 apg in those three wins. Christian May has emerged with 14.0 ppg and 2.3 made 3-pointers per contest. Nolan Hodge and May have combined for 15 of the team’s 23 treys over the last three games.
NORTHEASTERN HUSKIES (6-18; 2-11 CAA)
- Xavier Abreu has emerged as a top scoring threat for the Huskies over the last three games, notching 15.7 ppg on 47.4% shooting from the floor.
- Ryan Williams has been a spark off the bench over the same span. The sophomore guard has registered 12.3 ppg and 3.0 apg. Williams has also protected the ball in his 23.8 minutes per game in reserve, boasting a +9.0 assist/turnover ratio.
STONY BROOK SEAWOLVES (16-11; 8-6 CAA)
- Stony Brook is 11-3 at home this season, including wins in four of their last five inside Stony Brook Arena. Erik Pratt has notched 21.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.8 apg and 1.2 spg on campus in 13 starts.
- Andrej Shoshkikj (12.2 ppg) and Rob Brown III (11.8 ppg) have averaged double figures in scoring at home, with the latter shooting a team-best 59.4% from the floor and 54.3% from distance. The Seawolves are 7-1 overall when Shoshkikj drains at least three 3-pointers in a game this season.
TOWSON TIGERS (14-13; 6-8 CAA)
- The Tigers will visit Drexel on Thursday, holding a five-game winning streak in the series. Towson erased a 17-point deficit in its last meeting to secure a 59-58 win.
- Towson’s Tyler Tejada notched a career-high 33 points against Stony Brook on Thursday. It marked just his third career 30-point game after notching 30 against both Monmouth (Feb. 22, 2024) and Robert Morris (Dec. 17, 2024)..
WILLIAM & MARY TRIBE (16-10; 7-7 CAA)
- William & Mary is 9-2 inside Kaplan Arena this season. The Tribe is also 21-4 at home under the direction of Head Coach Brian Earl since his arrival.
- The Tribe completed its first regular season sweep of UNCW since the 2017-18 campaign. W&M has given the Seahawks two of their four losses this season, registering a 77-70 home victory on Jan. 22 before its 85-78 triumph at Trask Coliseum on Feb. 5. It also marked the eighth time the Tribe has swept the season series with the Seahawks during their time in the CAA, per Tribe Athletics.
