Box Score
A 24-point performance from Shane Blakeney helped Drexel pick up its first win over Towson since 2023 with a 68-62 victory at home on Sunday. The junior guard shot 10-of-15 from the floor with a trio of 3-pointers, adding six boards to his final line. Garfield Turner notched a 16-point, 13-rebound effort in 26 minutes off the bench. Victor Panov chipped in 11 points and seven boards in the win. Towson’s Jack Doumbia Jr. and Tyler Tejada logged 14 and 13 points apiece, respectively.

Drexel’s Blakeney scored nine points in the opening 12 minutes, helping the Dragons to a 19-12 edge over Towson. Shortly after, the Tigers saw back-to-back makes in close by Tejada to help spark an 8-2 spurt to slash the deficit down to one, 21-20, with five minutes to play. Blakeney and Eli Beard each sank a triple to take a seven-point lead before Towson’s Jaquan Womack retaliated with one of his own with 35 seconds remaining. The Dragons held a 33-27 lead at the intermission after Blakeney drained a stepback jumper as time expired.

Ryan Conway helped cut into Drexel’s lead with an opening layup, followed by a triple that brought the Tigers to within two, 36-34, just three minutes into the frame. The Dragons turned on the jets with an 11-1 spree, watching Garfield Turner capitalize on the final six points of the run to go up 47-35 with 12:33 to play. Towson worked its way back behind a 14-5 run capped off by a Tejada finish in the lane, pulling the home team to within three, 52-49, with 5:20 to play. It was as close as Towson would get as Blakeney connected from distance before Turner fought through contact for the and-one, completing the three-point play to put the Dragons up by nine, 62-53, with under two minutes remaining. Dylan Williamson scored the final seven points for Towson before seeing Drexel close the game at the line.
