UNCW Men, W&M Women Lead After Opening Day Of CAA Swimming & Diving Championships

HAMPTON, Va. (February 25, 2026) – The UNCW men and William & Mary women’s teams hold the top spots after the opening day of competition at the 2026 CAA Swimming & Diving Championship on Wednesday at the Hampton Aquaplex.
In the men’s competition, four-time defending champion UNCW leads the way with 133 points, while Towson is second with 113 points and Drexel is third with 100 points. Monmouth (58) and William & Mary (30) round out the scoring.
The women’s competition is tight, with William & Mary on top with 120 points and three-time defending champ UNCW close behind with 116. Towson (110) sits in third, followed by Drexel (106), Northeastern (100), Campbell (94) and Stony Brook (94) and Monmouth (88).
Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay
The championship got off to a record-setting start as the UNCW team of Maeren McGonigal, Gil Shaw, Cameron Snowden and Alex Tysinger broke the CAA all-time and meet records in the women’s 200 medley relay with a winning time of 1:37.83. William & Mary, which also beat the previous league mark by .01, placed second (1:38.47) and Towson finished third (1:41.64).
Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay
Drexel captured the men’s 200 medley relay for the first time since 2016 as the team of Theo Andreopoulos, Mark Eszes, Sebastian Smith and Declan Egger posted a winning time of 1:25.82. Close behind in second with a time of 1:25.90 was UNCW, while Towson took third with a time of 1:26.09.
Men’s 1-Meter Dive
Towson’s Sam Tennell became the first Tigers diver since 2014 to claim gold in the men’s 1-meter diving competition with a score of 319.55. Second place went to UNCW’s Etan Ferguson with a score of 303.40 and Towson’s Aidan Clark placed third with a score of 294.75.
Women’s 800 Yard Freestyle Relay
For the first time since 2022, William & Mary earned gold in the women’s 800 freestyle relay as the team of Ellie Hunt, Flynn Truskett, Haley Lehman and Tess Lankford completed the race in 7:14.30. Second place went to Towson with a time of 7:17.21 and Drexel was third in a time of 7:18.00.
Men’s 800 Yard Freestyle Relay
UNCW took gold in the men’s 800 freestyle relay for the fourth time in the past five years as the team of Nathan Jao, William Carrico, Will Spencer and Jack Haywood finished in a time of 6:24.66. Towson placed second with a time of 6:25.37 and Drexel was third in 6:28.97.
