UNCW Men, William & Mary Women Maintain Leads After Day 2 Of CAA Swimming & Diving Championships

HAMPTON, Va. (February 26, 2026) – The UNCW men’s and William & Mary women’s teams maintained their spots atop the standings after Day 2 of the CAA Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday night at the Hampton Aquaplex.
The night was highlighted by a stellar performance from UNCW junior William Carrico in the men’s 200 individual medley, where he broke the CAA all-time and meet records and earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Swimming Championship.
Aiming for a fifth straight CAA men’s title, UNCW has tallied 292.5 points and holds a narrow lead over second-place Towson with 283.5 points. Drexel (234.5) is third, followed by William & Mary (148) and Monmouth (103.5).
Looking to win the CAA women’s championship for the first time since 2022, William & Mary sits in first place with 552 points. Three-time defending champion UNCW is second with 493 points and Towson is third with 408.5 points. Currently fourth is Northeastern (342), followed by Drexel (284.5), Stony Brook (203), Campbell (173) and Monmouth (153).
Women’s 500 Yard Freestyle
Drexel sophomore Brittany Corbett went back-to-back as CAA champion in the women’s 500 freestyle, winning the event in a time of 4:47.79. Taking second was Towson’s Addie Scott in a time of 4:48.38 and William & Mary’s Lauren Tucker placed third with a time of 4:50.75.

Towson’s Christian Davidson became the first Tigers swimmer since 2014 to earn gold in the men’s 500 freestyle with a time of 4:21.03. Towson’s Stephen McDonald finished second in a time of 4:23.23 and UNCW’s Wilson Tuttle came in third with a time of 4:23.73.
Women’s 200 Yard Individual Medley
In an exciting finish that saw the three podium finishers separated by less than three-tenths of a second, UNCW’s Gil Shaw captured the 200 individual medley title with a time of 2:00.84. Claiming silver was William & Mary’s Tess Lankford in a time of 2:00.95 and defending champion Maeren McGonigal of UNCW placed third in a time of 2:01.13.

UNCW junior William Carrico broke the CAA all-time and meet records and earned an automatic qualification to the NCAA Swimming Championship by winning the men’s 200 individual medley with a time of 1:42.09. Towson’s Jed Garner took second in a time of 1:45.08 and UNCW’s Ian Frazer was third in a time of 1:46.45.
Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle
UNCW senior Cameron Snowden repeated as the CAA champion in the women’s 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 22.39. William & Mary’s Caroline Burgeson claimed the silver with a time of 22.64 and Tribe teammate Flynn Truskett was close behind in third with a time of 22.67.

In a thrilling race that saw the top three finishers separated by .02, Drexel’s Theo Andreopoulos grabbed gold in the men’s 50 freestyle with a winning time of 19.60. Finishing right behind in second was William & Mary’s Aiden Bond with a time of 19.61 and Drexel’s Sebastian Smith placed third in a time of 19.62.
Women’s 3-Meter Diving
Towson senior Shannon Parrau became the first Tigers diver to win the women’s 3-meter diving competition since 2018 with a winning score of 295.85. Finishing second with a score of 284.10 was MaKenna Sharpe of UNCW and third place went to Northeastern’s Anelise Kim with a score of 270.10.
Women’s 400 Yard Medley Relay
UNCW captured its second straight CAA title in the women’s 400 medley relay as the team of Maeren McGonigal, Gil Shaw, Cameron Snowden and Alex Tysinger finished in a winning time of 3:35.53. Close behind in second with a time of 3:35.78 was William & Mary and taking third was Northeastern with a time of 3:43.12.

Drexel went back-to-back as CAA champions in the men’s 400 medley relay as the team of Dimi Gkelis, Bart Loter, Sebastian Smith and Theo Andreopoulos posted a winning time of 3:08.14. Right behind in second was Towson with a time of 3:08.74 and UNCW placed third with a time of 3:09.23.
