QUINZIA FULMORE PROPELS ELON TO 67-62 VICTORY OVER HAMPTON

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 12, 2026) – Behind a game-high 22 points from Quinzia Fulmore, sixth-seeded Elon rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit and defeated No. 11 Hampton, 67-62, in the final second-round game of the Credit Union 1 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship on Thursday night.
 
The Phoenix (16-15), who advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2021, will face No. 3 Drexel on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. Hampton ended its season with a 10-21 record.
 
Fulmore was 8-of-12 from the floor while scoring her second-most points of the season and helped the Phoenix have a 42-16 advantage in points in the paint. Tamia Watkins recorded a double-double for Elon with 14 points and 13 boards.
 
Kiki McElrath hit five three-pointers and poured in a team-best 20 points for Hampton. Joining her in double figures for the Pirates were Aaryn Battle with 13 points and Aisha Dabo with 10.
 
Hampton, which tied a season-high with 11 three-pointers, got a trey from Olivia Smith to open the fourth quarter and took its largest lead of the game, 46-36, with 9:13 to play. However, Elon chipped away behind Fulmore, who tallied 10 points in the final frame including a pair of free throws that put the Phoenix in front, 61-60, with 2:01 remaining. Layups by Ashanti Fox and Tyana Walker pushed the margin to five and Fulmore clinched the victory with two more free throws with three seconds on the clock. 
 
Elon never trailed in the opening quarter, getting a pair of buckets from Watkins as part of a 6-0 start. Hampton pulled within one on an Battle trey, but the Phoenix closed the period with a 9-1 run capped by an Fox three to go ahead 19-10.
 
The Pirates quickly turned the momentum, opening the second quarter on a 14-2 spurt. Hampton did much of its damage from long range, getting three-pointers from McElrath, Battle and Dabo before Le’asia Foreman capped the run with a layup that put Hampton on top, 24-21. Dabo extended the Pirates’ lead to six with another trey, but Elon was able to climb back within 33-31 at the half after a jumper in the final minute from Maraja Pass.
 
The game remained tight through most of the third quarter, but Hampton closed the period on an 11-2 surge to take a 53-46 advantage into the final stanza. McElrath provided eight of those points, capped by a trey in the final seconds.
