CAA Men's And Women's Tennis Weekly Awards - March 24

RICHMOND, Va. (March 24, 2026) – UNCW senior Lukas Steffen was selected as the CAA men’s tennis Player of the Week, while Campbell sophomore Mollie Garcia earned CAA women’s tennis Player of the Week accolades. The Elon duo of Veljko Krstic and Nikola Parichkov were chosen as the men’s Doubles Team of the Week and Charleston’s Oziera Ahmad and Riley Trinkle were chosen as the women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Lukas Steffen, Sr., UNCW (Cary, N.C.)
Steffen posted a 2-0 mark at No. 1 singles as UNCW defeated VCU (5-2) and narrowly fell to 64
th-ranked Wichita State (4-3). The senior topped WSU’s Ilias Worthington, 6-4, 6-3, to put the Seahawks ahead in the match. At VCU, he battled past Erwann Bouchet, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 as UNCW earned a road victory.
CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Mollie Garcia, So., Campbell (Lutz, Fla.)
Garcia went 3-0 at No. 2 singles last week, helping Campbell earn conference wins over Stony Brook (4-3) and Hofstra (7-0) before a close loss at East Carolina (4-3). The sophomore beat SBU’s Mia Palladino, 6-3, 6-0, and followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Hofstra’s Aida Oviedo. She capped her week by downing ECU’s Ivona Savekona, 6-3, 6-3. Garcia was also 2-1 at No. 3 doubles.
CAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Veljko Krstic, Sr., Elon (Belgrade, Serbia)
Nikola Parichkov, So., Elon (Brandon, Fla.)
Krstic and Parichkov clinched the doubles point in Elon’s 6-1 victory over William & Mary, edging two-time reigning Doubles Team of the Week Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg, 7-6 (6) at the No. 1 slot. The duo erased an early break to pull out the win as the Phoenix won for just the second time in Williamsburg. Krstic added straight-set wins at No. 1 singles against W&M and VCU last week.
CAA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Oziera Ahmad, Jr., Charleston (Hampton, N.H.)
Riley Trinkle, Fr., Charleston (Charlestown, Ind.)
Ahmad and Trinkle went 3-0 at No. 2 doubles as Charleston recorded CAA victories over Towson (6-1) and Hofstra (7-0) as well as a 4-3 triumph over South Florida. The Cougars’ duo clinched the doubles point against Towson by beating Gaia Montecchi and Ashira Murray, 6-3, and downed Hofstra’s Isabella Cardinal and Sabira Mohamed, 6-0. They also helped earn the critical doubles point vs. USF with a 6-2 win over Margherita Marcon and Loana Vargas. Ahmad and Trinkle each added two singles wins.
