CAA Men's And Women's Tennis Weekly Awards - March 31

RICHMOND, Va. (March 31, 2026) – Elon senior Veljko Krstic was chosen as the CAA men’s tennis Player of the Week, while Stony Brook sophomore Elena Lobo-Corral received CAA women’s tennis Player of the Week honors. The UNCW duo of Alex de Gabriele and Brady Hussey were selected as the men’s Doubles Team of the Week and UNCW’s Elif Albayrak and Eda Arli earned women’s Doubles Team of the Week accolades.
 
CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Veljko Krstic, Sr., Elon (Belgrade, Serbia)
Krstic went 2-0 at No. 1 singles in Elon’s matches against Georgia Southern and No. 56 Old Dominion last week. The senior, who is ranked 116th nationally, defeated GSU’s Albert Saar, 6-1, 6-4, and followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over ODU’s Adam Majchrzak. He has captured four straight matches in straight sets to improve to 10-4. Krstic and partner Nikola Parichkov added a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles against GSU.

CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Elena Lobo-Corral, So., Stony Brook (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain)
Lobo-Corral posted a pair of dominant wins at No. 1 singles in Stony Brook’s conference victories over Hampton (5-2) and Towson (4-3). The sophomore beat Hampton’s Tanya Midzi, 6-1, 6-0, and followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Towson’s Kiersten Tambe. Lobo-Corral has won five straight conference matches, four at the No. 1 slot and one at No. 2.

CAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Alex de Gabriele, Jr., UNCW (Naxxar, Malta)
Brady Hussey, So., UNCW (Edgewood, Ky.)
Hussey and de Gabriele clinched the doubles point in two matches as UNCW defeated Drexel (7-0), DePaul (6-1) and Queens (5-0) last week. The Seahawks’ No. 1 tandem beat DePaul’s Pablo Torres Almeida and Alejandro Gandini, 6-3, and topped Queens’ Noe Villen and Alex Morris, 6-4, to improve to 7-2 for the season They were up 6-5 on Drexel’s Tarek Mo Erlewein and Will Burridge when played was halted. Hussey and de Gabriele were also a combined 5-1 in singles.

CAA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Elif Albayrak, Sr., UNCW (Istanbul, Turkey)
Eda Arli, Sr., UNCW (Izmir, Turkey)
Albayrak and Arli went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles, clinching the doubles points in both matches against Drexel (5-2) and Coastal Carolina (3-4). The Seahawks’ duo defeated Drexel’s Lorie Lemongo and Adva Dabah, 6-2, and followed by edging Coastal’s Brunelle Kouam and Francisca Laundes, 7-6 (8). Arli also picked up a pair of wins at No. 1 singles.
