Courtney Kols notched Rookie of the Week recognition on Monday.
Player of the Week
Charlie Montgomery, Campbell
Sophomore | OF | Lumber Bridge, N.C.
Montgomery continued her strong senior season, helping Campbell secure a series win over Hofstra. The senior center fielder slashed .500/.538/.583 across four games last week. She totaled six hits, including one double, with three RBIs and three runs scored. The Lumber Bridge, N.C., native also stole two bases and did not strike out last week. Montgomery went 3-for-3 at Coastal Carolina, accounting for half of Campbell’s hits. She opened the weekend with a 2-for-3 showing in Friday’s 10-1 victory against Hofstra, scoring twice, driving in a run and logging a stolen base. Defensively, Montgomery was flawless in center field, recording three putouts, including a highlight reel catch crashing into the wall in right-center to help Campbell secure a two-hit, 2-0 shutout in the rubber match.
Pitcher of the Week
Katelyn Hubley, Campbell
Freshman | P | Henrico, Va.
Hubley continued her standout freshman campaign with a 2-0 record to lead Campbell to a series victory over Hofstra. She did not issue a walk or allow an earned run, and surrendered just seven hits, with only one going for extra bases. Of her 160 pitches, Hubley threw 113 strikes. In Sunday’s rubber match, Hubley delivered a dominant outing, recording a season-high 11 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout against the CAA North Division leader. She allowed just two singles and did not walk a batter on 96 pitches. Hubley struck out multiple batters in the third, fourth and fifth innings before finishing the game with a pair of punchouts in the seventh, including the final out. The win was the 14th of the season and her fourth shutout of conference action.
