Three Programs Represented in Men’s CAA Indoor Track and Field Major Awards

RICHMOND, Va. (April 3, 2026) – Three programs garnered 2025-26 men’s CAA Indoor Track and Field major awards, as Hofstra, North Carolina A&T, and William & Mary had members of their programs recognized by the conference’s head coaches.
William & Mary junior
Brian Walsh was named Field Athlete of the Year, North Carolina A&T senior
Jason Holmes garnered Track Athletes of the Year honors, Hofstra freshman
Freddie Kipkosgei earned Rookie of the Year, and North Carolina A&T’s
Allen Johnson was
named Coach of the Year.
Walsh was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at the CAA Championship on the route to receiving his first major award from the conference. The junior was dominant in the pentathlon, accruing 3,774 points to claim the gold medal. He also placed third in the long jump and fourth in the pole vault, earning him a meet-high 21 points.
Holmes garnered his second consecutive Indoor Track Athlete of the Year honor. The 2026 Most Outstanding Track Performer at the Championship was named a second-team All-American in the 60m hurdles for the third straight season after winning the event at the conference championship (7.71) and the prestigious Tiger Paw Invitational. He added a gold medal in the 60m, setting a CAA meet record with a time of 6.67.
Kipkosgei claimed the 3000m race title at the 2026 conference championship meet with his 8:08.29 performance. The Kenyan distance runner also earned a second-place finish at the Fastrack National Invite with an 8:08.90 pace in the same event.
Johnson went back-to-back with CAA Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year honors. The Aggies, who were coming off their first CAA Championship in program history, paced the field with an impressive 175.5 points to repeat as CAA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Champions. Johnson guided his program to 16 podium finishes, including seven gold medals.
