CAA BASEBALL WEEKLY REPORT - APRIL 27

RICHMOND, Va. (April 27, 2026) – Campbell sophomore utility player Jett Music received CAA baseball Player of the Week honors, while UNCW junior Connor Marshburn was selected as the CAA Pitcher of the Week. William & Mary freshman infielder Matthew Kosuda and Campbell freshman outfielder Carlos Lugo shared CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.

CAA Baseball Player of the Week
Jett Music, Campbell – So., UTIL – Clayton, N.C.
Music batted .545 (6-11) with four homers, seven runs and seven RBI’s in Campbell’s 4-0 week capped by a CAA sweep at Charleston. He hit .667 (6-9) and went deep in each game at CofC, going 2-for-2 with a HR and 3 RBI’s on Friday and 3-for-3 with a pair of solo shots on Saturday before homering with 2 RBI’s on Sunday. Music walked four times to finish with a .786 on base percentage while slugging 2.000.

CAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Connor Marshburn, UNCW – Jr., RHP – Cary, N.C.
Marshburn allowed just one hit over 7.0 scoreless innings in UNCW’s 8-1 victory over Elon on Sunday. The right-hander retired the side in order five times and only gave up a single in the fourth. He struck out eight and didn’t allow a runner past second base. Marshburn (4-3) tied his season-high for innings and K’s and dropped his ERA to 4.03.

CAA Baseball Co-Rookie of the Week
Matthew Kosuda, William & Mary – Fr., IF – Mountainside, N.J.
Kosuda batted .550 (11-20) with two doubles, a triple, a homer, seven runs and nine RBI’s in William & Mary’s 3-1 week. The freshman was 3-for-5 with a homer and 3 RBI’s at Richmond and went 2-for-5 and drove in two at N.C. A&T on Saturday. On Sunday, he was 5-for-5 with three RBI’s as W&M won 9-0 to complete a 3-game sweep. Kosuda, who slugged .900, extended his hitting streak to 13 games.

CAA Baseball Co-Rookie of the Week
Carlos Lugo, Campbell – Fr., OF – Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Lugo batted .550 (11-20) with two doubles, two homers, six runs and six RBI’s in Campbell’s 4-0 week. The freshman had multiple hits in each contest, starting with a 3-for-5 effort vs. Charlotte. He was 4-for-4 with a grand slam in the opener at Charleston, had two hits with a solo shot on Saturday and went 2-for-5 with two runs on Sunday. Lugo, who slugged .950, pushed his hitting streak to eight games.

CONFERENCE NOTES

CAMPBELL CLINCHES TOURNEY BERTH

Campbell became the first team to clinch a berth in the CAA Baseball Championship following a three-game sweep at Charleston. It was the fifth sweep in eight league series for the Camels, who improved to 20-4. Campbell holds a 5.5-game lead on second-place UNCW with six games remaining to lock up the top spot in the South Division.

FIRST-PLACE BATTLE IN THE NORTH
Monmouth and Northeastern, who are tied for first place in the North Division at 15-6, meet in a critical three-game series this weekend in West Long Branch. The Huskies took two-of-three from the Hawks when the squads met a month ago in Brookline. 

SEAWOLVES STAY HOT
Stony Brook blanked Towson, 10-0, on Sunday afternoon to capture its fourth straight CAA series. After starting with a 4-8 league mark, the Seawolves have evened their record at 12-12.

COASTAL OVER COASTAL
Four UNCW pitchers combined on a 1-hitter and the offense rallied for two runs in the ninth as the Seahawks knocked off #9 Coastal Carolina, 2-1, last Tuesday. UNCW was the third different CAA team to defeat the nationally ranked Chants this season, joining Charleston and Campbell. It was the sixth win over a nationally ranked foe for the CAA in 2026.

ALLEN, LASKOFSKI ON AWARD LISTS
UNCW junior Cooper Allen was named a semifinalist for the National Pitcher of the Year award, while William & Mary sophomore Jamie Laskofski was chosen as a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year award given to the nation’s top shortstop. Allen is 6-2 with a 2.08 ERA, while Laskofski is batting .375 with nine homers and 37 RBI’s. On April 1, Charleston’s Dylan Johnson was named to the midseason watch list for the Buster Posey Catcher of the Year award.

STOLEN BASE LEADERS
The CAA has four of the top 23 teams in the nation in stolen bases - Northeastern is 2nd (158), William & Mary is 3rd (130), Stony Brook is 20th (105) and Campbell is 23rd (103).

CAMPBELL CAMELS (29-14; 20-4 CAA)

• The Camels clinched a CAA Tournament berth after a 4-0 week that was capped by a sweep of Charleston.

• Jett Music was 6-for-9 with four homers and seven RBI’s in the CofC series. He walked four times and added a HBP to finish with a .786 OBP%.

• Connor Hensley (3-1) held CofC to one run on five hits over a season-long 6.2 innings in Friday’s 16-1 win.

• Carlos Lugo is on an 8-game hitting streak after batting .550 with two doubles, two homers and six RBI’s last week. He raised his average to .368.

• Joey Morton homered in the final two games at CofC. He’s got 11 HR’s and is 2nd in the CAA with 46 RBI’s.

CHARLESTON COUGARS (20-23; 10-11 CAA)

• The Cougars had a 1-3 week, beating local rival Charleston Southern, 7-5, before dropping three to Campbell.

•   Dylan Johnson was 4-for-5 and drove in two vs. CSU and then went a career-best 5-for-5 and scored three times against Campbell on Saturday. Johnson raised his average to .369.
 
• Alex LaCoste saw his 12-game hitting streak end on Sunday but remains 2nd on the team with a .328 batting average.
 
• Alex Lyon held Campbell to one run over 5.2 innings and fanned five on Sunday. With 94 career pitching appearances, he’s one off the school record.

• Will Tippett was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI’s in the CSU victory.

ELON PHOENIX (17-26; 8-16 CAA)

• The Phoenix earned a 10-8 win at Winthrop, but were swept in their CAA series with UNCW last week.

• Elon rallied for seven runs in the 8th at Winthrop, highlighted by three straight RBI doubles from Gavin Bodanchik, Jackson Alford and Jared Hall.

• Tommy Mitchell held UNCW to five hits and no earned runs over 7.0 innings on Saturday but suffered the loss.

• Vince Fattore homered twice and drove in four in Friday’s 9-8 setback to UNCW. 

• Jackson Alford ranks second in the CAA in stolen bases, swiping 28-of-34.

HOFSTRA PRIDE (15-22; 9-12 CAA)

• The Pride split four games last week, beating NJIT (11-5) before taking a 13-2 win at Northeastern in the series finale.

• Nick Gallello had multiple hits and at least one RBI in three of the four games. Gallello batted .412 for the week with a homer and five RBI’s.

• Nick Reese allowed just three singles and one earned run over a 7-inning complete game effort at NU on Sunday. He didn’t give up a hit after the 2nd and recorded HU’s first CG of the season.

• Danny Corona drove in seven runs last week, including five in the final two games at Northeastern.

• Carlos Martinez has struck out 24 batters over his past 12.0 innings.

MONMOUTH HAWKS (24-17; 15-6 CAA)

• The Hawks posted wins over LIU, Seton Hall and Rider as part of a 3-1 week.

• Freshman Drew Yagodzinskie didn’t allow a hit over 6.0 innings and fanned six in a 10-6 victory at LIU. The innings and strikeout totals were a career high. 

• Chris Walsh homered twice and drove in three in Sunday’s 12-2 win over Rider. Walsh also stole his 22nd base of the season, which is the most at MU since his brother, JP, did it in 2019.

• Nick Lovarco homered twice in a 6-5 win at Seton Hall and has 9 for the year.

• Monmouth has already matched its overall win total from a year ago.

N.C. A&T AGGIES (11-31; 3-18 CAA)

• The Aggies defeated UNC Asheville (4-1) last Tuesday but lost all three CAA games to William & Mary.

• Jacob Fields (4 IP), Braxton Davis (2 IP), Diego Barrett (1 IP) and Josh Hauser (1 IP) combined on a 3-hitter vs. UNCA. 

• Reginald Tuggle III was 2-for-3 with a homer and 2 RBI’s in the UNCA win. He also scored twice vs. W&M on Saturday.

• Andrew Tinsley was 3-for-4, homered and knocked in three in the opening game against W&M.

• Bruce Wyche is riding a six-game hitting streak and continues to lead the Aggies with a .331 batting average and 34 RBI’s.

UNCW SEAHAWKS (25-18; 13-8 CAA)

• The Seahawks turned in a big 4-0 week, knocking off #9 Coastal Carolina (2-1) before getting a road sweep of Elon.

• Mason Ruh (3 IP), TJ Ziermann (3.0 IP), Alex Sobol (2 IP) and Brady Thompson (1 IP) combined on a 1-hitter vs. Coastal.

• Freshman Trey Williford (5-1) held Elon to one run over 6.0 innings and fanned eight in Saturday’s 5-1 win.

• Connor Marshburn (4-3) allowed one hit over 7.0 scoreless innings and struck out 8 in an 8-1 win over EU on Sunday.

• Trevor Lucas batted .444 (8-18) last week with three RBI’s. He had multiple hits in three games.

NORTHEASTERN HUSKIES (25-17; 15-6 CAA)

• The Huskies won 2-of-3 over Hofstra last weekend, avenging their only CAA series loss of the year. NU is tied for first in the North with Monmouth.

• Matt Brinker batted .556 (5-9) in the series with a homer and six RBI’s. He’s second on the team with 43 RBI’s.

• Robbie O’Connor (7-1) held HU to five hits over 6.0 shutout innings and fanned seven in an 8-0 victory on Friday. He’s throw 11.0 straight scoreless frames. 

• Tyler Harmony stayed hot, batting .462 (6-13) with four runs scored last week. He has multiple hits in seven of his last eight contests and is batting a team-best .444 over 13 games.

STONY BROOK SEAWOLVES (16-24; 12-12 CAA)

• The Seawolves claimed their 4th straight CAA series, taking 2-of-3 at Towson as part of a 2-2 week.

• Scott Gell batted .500 (6-12) last week with a double, homer and eight RBI’s. He was 3-for-5 with a 3-run HR on Friday at TU and drove in four on Sunday.

• Chris Carson hit .636 (7-11) in the Towson series and scored six runs.

• Dylan Henshawn (4 IP), Nicholas Rizzo (2 IP) and Ty Panariello (1 IP) combined on a 4-hit shutout at Towson on Sunday.

• Nick Zamperion increased his hitting streak to 10 games after batting .333 in the Towson series.

TOWSON TIGERS (16-25; 5-16 CAA)

• The Tigers had a 1-3 week, but scored three in the 9th to earn a 9-7 walk off victory over Stony Brook on Saturday.

• Brady Nathison was 4-for-6 with three runs and four RBI’s from the leadoff spot vs. SBU on Saturday, including the game-winning 3-run homer. Nathison was 7-for-13 (.538) in the series.

• Keldrin Rodriguez had a hit in all four games last week, batting .417 with a pair of doubles and six RBI’s.

• Brian Heckelman also tallied a hit in all four games and doubled three times.

• Jake Michel held UMBC to one hit and no earned runs over 4.0 innings.

WILLIAM & MARY TRIBE (19-23; 10-11 CAA)

• The Tribe offense exploded for 55 runs in a 3-1 week that included a 3-game sweep at CAA foe N.C. A&T.

• Louie Bartletti batted .500 (10-20) with three homers, nine runs scored and seven RBI’s last week. He was 5-for-5 and drove in four vs. A&T on Saturday.

• Jamie Laskofski was 10-for-15 (.667) in the A&T series with seven runs and four RBI’s. He raised his average to .375.

• Jack Weight threw 5.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win at A&T on Friday. He has five scoreless outings in his past six appearances and has a 0.53 ERA over that stretch.
