Three Programs Garner 2026 CAA Men’s Lacrosse Postseason Major Awards

RICHMOND, Va. (Apr. 29, 2026) – Three programs– Towson, Hofstra, and Stony Brook – garnered CAA men’s lacrosse postseason major awards, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Towson senior attacker/midfielder Mikey Weisshaar was unanimously named CAA Offensive Player of the Year for a second-straight year, while his teammate, redshirt-junior goalie Matt Nilan, collected CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors. Hofstra attacker Gus Langtry and Stony Brook long stick midfielder Kyan East split CAA Rookie of the Year accolades, and Towson Head Coach Shawn Nadelen was named CAA Coach of the Year.
Weisshaar continued his dominance in the CAA after being selected as the unanimous Offensive Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 PLL Draft paced the conference in six offensive categories including goals (42), goals per game (3.23), assists (22), assists per game (1.69), points (64), and points per game (4.92). Weisshaar tallied at least three points, including multiple goals, in 11 of his 12 games. A 2026 Tewaarton nominee and Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American, the senior attacker surpassed the career 200-point mark this season en route to becoming Towson’s all-time leading scorer.
Nilan earned his first CAA major award while anchoring one of the strongest defenses in conference play. The four-time CAA Defensive Player of the Week led the conference in save percentage (.554) and was the lone CAA shot stopper to restrict his opponents to single-digit goals per game (9.71). Nilan had double-digit saves in nine of his 12 games where he played the full 60 minutes, and held Towson opponents to 10 goals or fewer in eight of those contests.
Langtry became Hofstra’s first CAA Rookie of the Year honoree since 2017. The first-year attacker sat amongst the Pride’s best-offensive players tallying 20 goals and nine assists in his rookie campaign. Langtry produced multiple-goal games in six matchups this season, including three hat tricks. The two-time CAA Rookie of the Week is Hofstra’s sixth player to earn the conference’s rookie of the year award in program history.
East was a defensive stalwart, helping lift Stony Brook to its first CAA Championship appearance since 2023. The Floridian long-stick midfielder played in 12 of the Seawolves 13 games this season, scooping up 34 ground balls and causing five turnovers. East contributed to a defense that allowed just 11.38 goals per game in 2026, helping him earn All-CAA Second Team honors.
Nadelen guided Towson to a perfect conference season for a third-straight year and the outright regular season title for the third time in as many seasons. The back-to-back CAA Coach of the Year saw his program ranked nationally for a majority of the season, including sitting 10thin multiple weeks. Producing a 10-3 overall record, the Tigers’ head coach has won his last 24 CAA games, the eighth longest streak in Division I history. Nadelen’s program is currently riding an eight-game win streak.
