CAA Men's And Women's Tennis Weekly Awards - April 7

RICHMOND, Va. (April 7, 2026) – Drexel junior Will Burridge was selected as the CAA men’s tennis Player of the Week, while Elon junior Alexis Nyborg earned CAA women’s tennis Player of the Week honors. The Monmouth duo of Alex Martinez Sanz and Sasha Vysochenko were named the men’s Doubles Team of the Week and Campbell’s Mollie Garcia and Sandra Mari Marti received women’s Doubles Team of the Week accolades.
CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Will Burridge, Jr., Drexel (Swindon, U.K.)
Burridge went 2-0 in singles and doubles to help Drexel earn impressive team victories over Delaware (4-2) and William & Mary (4-1) last week. Competing at No. 3 singles, the junior rallied past Delaware’s Euan Mackenzie, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 to give the Dragons a 3-2 lead in the match. He clinched Drexel’s first road win ever at W&M by defeating Austin Cohen, 7-5, 6-4. Burridge and partner Tarek Mo Erlewein were also 2-0 at No. 1 doubles as Drexel claimed the doubles point in both matches.
CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Alexis Nyborg, Jr., Elon (Moreland Hills, Ohio)
Nyborg won a three-set thriller to clinch the match in Elon’s 4-3 road win over William & Mary in a clash of the CAA’s top two teams. Competing at No. 4 singles, the junior battled past W&M’s Mira Kernagis, 7-6 (5), 1-6, 7-6 (5) to give the Phoenix their first win ever over the Tribe in Williamsburg. In a contest at No. 63 Old Dominion, Nyborg led Uladzislava Manzhos, 7-5, 4-1 when the match was halted.
CAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Alex Martinez Sanz, Sr., Monmouth (Pamplona, Spain)
Sasha Vysochenko, So., Monmouth (Oceanport, N.J.)
Martinez Sanz and Vysochenko recorded a 3-0 mark at No. 2 doubles, helping Monmouth pick up victories over Temple (6-1), Hofstra (6-1) and LIU (4-0) last week. The Hawks’ duo cruised past Temple’s Alberto Blumenschein and Pranav Nemani, 6-1, and clinched the doubles point by beating Hofstra’s Dominic Anderson and Alex Di Fruscia, 6-3. They closed the week by topping LIU’s Daniel Lemmon-Warde and Jason Lemmon-Warde, 6-2. Both players were also unbeaten in singles last week.
CAA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Mollie Garcia, So., Campbell (Lutz, Fla.)
Sandra Mari Marti, Sr., Campbell (Sollana Valencia, Spain)
Garcia and Marti posted a 3-0 doubles record last week as Campbell fell to Charleston (5-2) before defeating UNCG (4-1) and North Carolina Wesleyan (7-0). Competing at the No. 2 slot, the Camels’ tandem helped earn the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Charleston’s Oziera Ahmad and Riley Trinkle. They followed with dominant 6-0 wins over UNCG’s Sydney Bly and Sofia Somoano and NC Wesleyan’s Bethan Fothergill and Renata Torres.
